Custom Fields

Hi,  I was using Wrike for 5.5 years at PwC for my team and recently left so I haven't had access to Wrike since the end of December 2023.  I was able to make the case to get a Wrike Pinnacle license for the team that I will be building out.  I have created all of the custom fields that I ordinarily use in the workflow.  I have now moved to the next step where I am building out the analytics boards.  The prior practice was that you would reach out to the help desk and get them to release all of the fields.  I am hoping that is still the case because  I saw a help post that allows you to access the data by using the folder/project custom fields name and a corresponding folder/project custom fields value.  Although I get the results you cannot set up each custom field as its own column.  If you select more than one custom field in the filter for folder/project custom fields name then they are all in one cell.  How do you display each custom field as its own column in the pivot table?

Hi Barry Horne

You can bring in multiple custom fields into a WA report, but you can't filter on more than one of them - this is a limitation in WA and is mentioned in the following article (which is probably the one you referenced).

[From Wrike] Behind The Scenes of Custom Fields in Wrike Analyze – Wrike Help Center

I have several reports with multiple CFs as different columns and it works really well.  You do have to still contact support to get the CFs added as dimensions, but in my experience they are really quick to action this (usually within a couple of hours) and have a separate workflow in the ticket creation mechanism to handle them.  You have to explicitly request each CF to be added rather than asking them all to be added though I think.

Hi Barry Horne,

I had a similar query of the Wrike team last year in Wrike Analyze, and below are the notes I collated.

Hopefully this addresses what you are describing/adds value for you.

Grouping Multi-Select Field Values on a Widget

By standard, multi-select field values are not grouped by value when reported on in Wrike Analytics.
All possible combinations will display on the axis / break by filter specified as per below:

Settings can be applied to the widget to ensure that the values are group for any data type (i.e. categories, values or break by) and widget type (i.e. graph, chart, table, etc.).

1. Enter ‘Edit’ mode of the given widget.

2. From the right-hand pane select ‘Filters’ and then ‘+ Widget Filters’.

3. Search for “Custom Field Name”.
The data we are retrieving through this widget will directly correlate to the multi-select option we are wanting to group. Please note that this step will need to be completed at either the ‘Folder/Project’ level, or ‘Task’ level.
Please determine where the data will need to be reported on and select from one of the following options accordingly:
  1. Folder/Project Level = “Folder/Project Custom Field Name”
  2. Task Level = “Task Custom Field Name”

4. Unselect all values, search for the multi-select field you would like to group, select it then press ‘OK’.

5. From the left-hand pane, select the ‘Add +’ icon on the data type you would like to add the multi-select field you
would like to group. Ensure any existing data types (if any) added for this field have been removed.

6.   Search for “Custom Field Any Value”.
Add the same field that was used in the Widget Filter in step (3), i.e.
  1. Folder/Project Level = “Folder/Project Custom Field Any Value”
  2. Task Level = “Task Custom Field Any Value”

7.   Double-click on the data type title to rename as required (e.g. ‘Region’) and select the tick icon to save.

8.   Select the filter icon on the data type then select ‘Text’.

9.  Set the ‘field items’ to “Containing” and in the ‘Type Here’ section, type a single value within the multi-select value
options that you would like to display. Select ‘Add condition’ and repeat for every value you would like to display. Select “OK” once all values are added.

10.   Select “Save” from the page header.

The data type values are now grouped.
