Automation to trigger ON due date
Hi team,
We have several cases where we want to fire an automation on a specific date, namely due date.
The only options available for this kind of timing for the trigger is the following:
(Due date has passed or will be within the next)
As a work around, we've used Will be within the next and set it to 1m, but it would be great to have an option that is added for "On due date". That way, we can automate status changes or notify assignees to take action on the intended due date.
Thanks!
Thank you for creating this post Anna Giacobbe 👏 I've passed it on to our Product Team 👍
Hi,
I want to share a workaround I found. Basically you can set up to trigger the rule when the due date ends and set up a timezone much earlier than yours. For example, if you are based in LA, if you set up the timezone in Jakarta, you will trigger the rule earlier in your monday (When Jakarta reaches 23:59:59 of the due date).
Thank you for sharing a workaround with us, Eduard Casellas Bosch. I'm sure others will find it useful. 👍🏽

I'm struggling to understand the workaround, Eduard Casellas Bosch
Are you saying that the rule evaluates the due date as if the due date was in the RULE time zone?
I had assumed that the rule time zone dictated WHEN the rule fired, but would still evaluate the rule against the ACCOUNT time zone.
Or is there no account time zone, only rule time zones and user time zones?
I guess one more fundamental question I would have is, is the "due date" in this trigger considered midnight on the day it is due or midnight on the day AFTER it is due?
In other words, if I choose "will be within the next," and the due date is today, is it checking against midnight when today begins, or midnight when today ends?
Literally all I'm trying to do is fire a message at 8am on a task's due date. Crazy that it is so difficult. Are there any other options, Basudha Sakshyarika?
