Booked Effort - Unusable in Reports or Formula Fields

Allow Booked Effort to be utilized as a field in Reports, and Formula Fields in Dashboards and on Projects

We use Booked Effort, specifically a calculation of Time Spent/Booked effort, for critical business calculations including revenue recognition for 1000s of projects.

The inability to report on Booked Effort in formula fields, standard reports, and in dashboards through formula fields for projects really hampers our ability to effectively manage our bookings.

While we perform a % complete calculation via Workato on a bi-monthly basis, we don't currently have a plan that would support the millions of tasks needed/month to do the calculation on a daily basis.

Hey Ian, we support booked effort as a metric in new dashboards, but based on your post, you need it to be supported in formula fields first to calculate the time spent/booked effort metric and then report on it. Is that correct? Can you please elaborate more on what kind of reports you want to build with that metric?

Hi Vladimir Bugay I've made that bit about Booked Effort not being usable in Dashboards via Formula fields more clear above. Thanks!

We use % of hours used (Time Spent)/Booked Effort at the project level) to function as a critical statistic in our Revenue Recognition process & in our Backlog Reporting. We would also calculate Backlog Hours (Booked Effort-Time Spent) & Backlog Revenue (Custom Revenue Field - ( Custom Revenue Field*(% of hours used). These are the critical business ones that we ask Teams & Project Owners to monitor & are key for both integrated business process & monitoring.

1. Here's an example of % of Hours Used Report we use, for resources to monitor the projects default/current booked effort & time spent. To assure the project is still on target and that the originally scoped hours still correspond. Currently, these reports take a long time to load for information that is often not pertinent to the individual (we make these reports at the team level and put them in Space Tools for each team because it's not feasible to make one for each individual)

2. We would also love to use the project progress feature for this, but the feature doesn't currently support measuring this as Time Spent/Booked Effort (I could also understand the use case for Time Spent/Effort depending on how you implemented Wrike).

Thanks for the clarification, Ian! It's crystal clear, and it's definitely a gap. I will discuss with the team what could be done to address it.

Hi Ian Kizer  Hope you don't mind me replying to this thread but I was wondering how you achieve the radio button interface in your report excerpts - is this in Wrike Analyze?  I don't think I've seen that before.
