Populate Project custom field with selection made in a child task custom field

The person that submits new projects does not necessarily know what to populate a custom field for the project, lets call it "Field A".  A person (SME) that has a task later in the project would be better to fill it in with the appropriate selection, lets call that "Selection 1".  It is not feasible for us to provide instruction to redirect the person in that knows back to the Project panel. I've tried that and its ignored since it's more clicks for them, and sometimes confusing, how to the Project panel and then back to the task actually assigned to them.

When the SME picks the appropriate "Field A" option as "Selection 1", it needs to be viewable in the Project panel as well as reports that are based on projects.

How can we add "Field A" box to a task so it populates back up to the Project ""Field A" box?

Jeanine Lore there is currently no way to automatically push the value of a field from the child(task) to the parent(Task or Project) or to do it from the parent(task or project) to the child(task).
