Task Progress Weights

Hi all,

Is it possible to have a task within a project to carry a weight for the progress bar?

Example Project : Harry Potter

Task 1 : Open book

Task 2 : Read Book

Task 3 : Close book

Now in this scenario reading the book is worth 90% of the "project" it is in but opening and closing the book are 5% each but in Wrike it will give each of them 33% which isn't a true indication of my progress in the project?

Sorry for the dumb example...

I love your example Blaith Cooper 😍

I've recently tested a similar scenario, and I think that if you add some additional subtasks to a task that is the most difficult/time & resource - consuming, it will be reflected in project progress. Would you be able to try this?

I've also had this thought, Blaith Cooper! My leadership likes to view the progress bars on the project level, but they aren't always a fair representation of project progress.

I've done just as Lisa recommended above. In your fun example, you could add tasks like this:

  • Task 1: Open Book
  • Task 2: Read chapter 1
  • Task 3: Read chapter 2
  • Task 4: Read chapter 3
  • Task 5: Close book

This adds more 'weight' the the reading portion of the project for a more accurate progress bar. Make sense?

Thanks for the reply Lisa & David Simmington!

This example could very well be incorporated into my task, breaking it up a lot more than just the one line item!

I will give it a try!

It Worked! Just breaking my task down a tad helped, they are mindless actions but they serve their purpose, Thanks Lisa!

Lisa you do mean a progress indicator for tasks in this example right?  I am looking for a progress indicator per task - that will be an indicator for many subtask. like it is working for projects. Is this possible?

Hey Cees Bakker, I meant project progress overall and how it can be impacted by adding tasks and subtasks. Task progress isn't currently available.
