Modified Date on Project Level

I would die for getting a modified date at the project level!!!!  I have created a manual Update Date as a custom field but I should be able to run a report and show modified date for any data at the project level....ie. changes in custom fields.  

I hope someday for a dream come true on this cause update the "Update Date" or modified date at the project level manually is a drag!
