Daily Reminders

I wanted to create a task that would repeat daily.  I tried to use Wrike's built in option for Re-Occuring Tasks, and was flooded with tasks for each day of the week.

I found a good solution for me.  Create a task, but don't complete it.  Just push out the "Due Date" 1 day, once your daily task was completed.

Jason - I ran into the same issue with creating a daily re-occurring task to define a "daily work allocation" to help manage unplanned incoming work.  I think your solution is worth a try for myself :)

If it's a simply daily recurring task...not connected to a project, You could do the following:

  • Create a "Daily" dashboard OR "Recurring," whatever...
  • Create a separate folder for that task, or even for "daily tasks" (e.g. "5 min to journal" or "30 min workout".)
  • Then, you make those "recurrent" (from the *** menu, top left)
  • Then create a widget from a filter for [That Folder | Due Today] (Note: I would due Today and Overdue...so if I miss a couple, I can just clean those up)
  • Then, when you check that widget/dashboard...it'll show you your recurring tasks for the day (or for the day and overdue...either way)
  • Once you mark the Task "Complete," the list is clear until tomorrow.

I tested this out and it seemed to work. Here's the problems I see:

  • If you assign it to yourself, you mess up the MY WORK view. (I find that view still kludgy, but in this case, it'd be unusable)
  • If it needs to be part of a project, it may screw up the Project view...??? I'm not totally clear on that.

FWIW, ideally, Wrike will create a way to have those tasks "hidden" on their own :)

I agree with the request for daily reminders/tasks. It seems like a big mess to have tasks duplicated rather than just having one task that spawns itself for the next day after it's been completed.

Hi everyone, just wanted to pop in to let everyone know we've released updated logic for how recurrent tasks work. Tasks are no longer created all at one time, instead, you can choose how many tasks you want to have created at any given time. You can read more about the updates on Anton's post
