Ressource Management according to Priorities

Dear Wrike team and users

A department in our organization is currently facing the challenge of aligning task and resource management according to a prioritized task list.

Use Case:
The team works in a fairly agile environment. In the past, this led to working with priority lists where the highest priority task was worked on. Basically, they assigned tasks to people and estimated the effort. This was then summed up and an earliest finish date was calculated down to the last task on the priority list.  The priority list could change daily due to urgent customer service requests.

Implementation in Wrike:
Currently, there is no useful way to calculate or display an earliest finish date when working with a priority list that can simultaneously account for employee capacity and non-working time.

Workaround:
One workaround I have come up with so far: Connect tasks with dependencies according to the priority order. As soon as a new and higher-priority task appears, you need to rearrange the dependencies so that any lower-priority tasks will move their start dates by the amount of hours or days the task was moved in between. This is quite "annoying" and creates dependencies without having any real connection between the tasks except the priority order. This doesn't make sense to me.

Suggestion:
Toggle a setting in a folder or project so that tasks are automatically ordered by priority on a timeline. When tasks are moved, e.g. in a workload graph, the system automatically moves each subsequent task. This feature should consider assignees as constraints. Parallelizing tasks when other assignees are involved should be covered somehow.

I've already spoken with our account manager. She suggested to create a product feedback as she does not have a solution for this at the moment. I'm still interested in other practices that work and plan according to priorities instead of due dates.

Regards,
Jonathan
