[Status: Backburner ⌛️] Wrike Automations - Select Multiple Item Types
Is there a way for multiple item types to be selected when creating automation rules? We have several different custom item types, and many of our automations apply to multiple or all of them. It's time consuming to have to create a separate automation for each task type when we have multiple specific locations they have to be created for.
Example: We want to automate the archiving of tasks and projects to specific folders within our client projects in Wrike. Currently, we're having to create 14 different automations for 32 different client project locations. That's 448 automation creations (yes, I'm aware that multiple locations can be selected, but with our folder system, that's not a possible solution given all the tasks would be added to folders they don't belong in). If we could select multiple item types, that would reduce that to 32 automations.

Hi Elaine, any updates on this?
Hi Frank, hope you don't mind me stepping in for Elaine here. Thanks for reaching out. So far, we do not have any new updates for this year. I will keep you posted if there are any developments in the coming months 👍

We have a use case for this as well. For assigning tasks when a project is created, we will have to create a separate automation for each custom item type which is time consuming. Please update so we can include custom item types in the same automation rule as the rest of the tasks. Thank you!
Our organization would benefit from this enhancement too!
Hi Ben Thomas and Kendra Ciszczon 👋
Thank you both for supporting this suggestion! We will pass your feedback to the Product Team.

We would benefit if it is possible in space automation to Apply rule to multiple Item type also. We now made about 15 copies of automations.
Thank you, Jacco Stam for adding your suggestion here. I am forwarding it to the responsible team and will keep you in the loop if there are any developments in the future.

If we were able to use more than one condition in one automation rule, as requested here: Multiple triggers to create OR / AND logic in Automation? – Wrike Help Center, there would be a workaround. For now the only option that remains is to duplicate the whole automation rule, this is really messy.
We're suffering the same issue. I'm trying to overhaul our whole process so things are as automated as possible, but I'm surprised this is the case. If you want to set an automation based on a custom field setting that shared across multiple item types, you have to create it at the account level. It's a cross-contamination of scopes. I would rather keep all unique custom item types, fields and automation containerized per space.
Our organization would benefit from this
Thank you for the continuous feedback, folks! We will keep you in the loop for any updates. 👍🏽

Adding in support from our organization on this, it would make a huge difference. We currently have about 25 CITs, and we set up completion and cancelled automations that move each from an "active" folder to a "completed" or "cancelled" folder for each department. Then we replicate that for each of our four spaces. It equates to over 1,000 automations, and once we got to about 300 built, it actually crashed our automation engine.
I'm resurfacing this because it's becoming a recurring issue. We currently have 15 CITs, and the list keeps growing. Every time I create a new one, I forget that automations don’t automatically apply to them. I have to manually duplicate in hindsight the relevant existing automations and update the item type each time.
Even if selecting multiple item types isn’t possible, it would be really helpful to at least assign automations by CIT type—whether that’s a project type or task type. That’s essentially how I’m using them anyway: certain automations apply across all project types, including CITs and the default project item.
At this point, duplicating automations for each CIT is making maintenance and tracking feel unmanageable.
Hey Ryan Mills and Kelsey Rudolph, thank you for sharing your feedback. I have made our Automations team aware of your comments. We will keep you in the loop about any developments. Thank you! 😊👍🏽

As a Wrike Implementation Consultant, I can echo the need for this. I have multiple clients who feel the pains of having to create an automation rule for each item type. If we can filter in a dashboard by reporting on "project" and then filter on the Item Type to return multiple Item Types, it would be ideal to filter on it in an Automation as a condition as well.

Any updates? Our Org could benefit from this too. TIA
We would definitely benefit from this. It really discourages use of item types in the current form. This is counter-intuitive as many of your templates come with a significant number of item types out of the box. I can't implement an automation rule for all of them so it adds risk that actions are missed as I have to automate the major item types only.

This feature would greatly reduce the amount of rules we would need to create. Would love an update if there is any progress on this! Rohan V
Hi Kennan Langsford 👋 thanks for reaching out! At the moment, there are no immediate plans to implement this suggestion, but we will continue to send feedback and monitor for any changes. If there are updates, we’ll share them in the Community 🙏
