Job Roles
Dear community,
we are planning to use the Ressource Management that Wrike has to offer.
I know that we can create Job-Roles and assign those Job-Roles to Wrike-Users (=employees). Besides that: Is it also possible to create ressources that are NOT users (e.g. create a ressource that is acutally an asset) that can be assigned to projects?
Example: Next to ressource A (=employee) who is an active wrike-user and can be assigned to a Job-Roles and tasks, I want to create ressource B (=asset) that is NOT a wrike-user (as it's obviously an asset) and assign this ressource to a Job-Role and tasks.
Is that possible? Or can only be active users assigned to Job-Roles and tasks?
Thanks. Best regards,
Michael
If that's possible: Where can such ressources be created?
Hi Michael Schweiß, thank you for creating this post! Since this option is currently not available, I'll move your post to our Product Feedback forum - this way, other users will be able to upvote your idea 🙂
As a possible workaround, you could create a single select or multiple select custom field to "assign" the tasks to resources that don't exist - as users - in your account.
If you have any additional questions, please let me know 👍
Michael Schweiß what would a use case for this be? What sorts of assets would be related to a job roll? We have Job Roles that are not aligned to Users that we use for tracking the action of a task. For example we have a Shipping job roll that we assign to tasks that need something shipped. A Hardware job roll that is used when a piece of equipment needs attention. These are assigned first, then a user will be assigned to deal with the task.
Our use case is:
We deliver some sort of "building projects" by providing ressources, that consist of personal as well as trucks, cranes etc. When we plan a project for us it's of interest to see which persons are assigned to projects and to this project belonging tasks as well as which assets are assigned to a certain project/task. In the next step we are interested in seeing the utilization of all kind of ressources (personal + assets) that we provide for delivering projects, as a higher utilization for ressources equals a better financial result (if pricing is good ;)).
The idea was to use job roles (e.g. Projectmanager, Worker for personal as well as for assets e.g. truck, crane) and assign single ressources to this groups/job roles. However as I understood so far is that a ressource is directly linked to a user/license, which makes it no feasable to create ressources other than personal. The only way to bring this use case to life within Wrike is to have a workaround, because as far is I understand there is no opportunity to have our requirements (all kind of ressources can be created, also non-human ones) fullfilled. I am not sure if there is also a real workaround to achieve our requirements.
Appreciate if you have input for me.
Michael Schweiß what if you used Custom Item types for the assets? You could create custom Item Types for your assets, then add them to your projects as needed either as tasks or subtasks. That would allow you to run reports or dashboards to see which assets are use, and you could add info specific to the assets with custom fields.
