[Status: Backburner ⏳] Allow "and/or" approver selection - Multiple approvers when only one is needed
I'd like to be able to add multiple optional approvers to a task/project without requiring that all of them approve the task/project for it to continue. This would be useful for example when a manager is out of office and their designated backup can cover for them.
Some tasks just need someone to approve, and it's not critical that it's a specific person.
Approval could even be assigned to a group of managers, when only one of them is needed.
Adding this "and/or" functionality would preserve the current approach when multiple approvals are mos appropriate, while also allowing flexibility in the approvals process.
Thanks for your consideration!
Just out of interest, how many votes does this need to get moved from "backburner" status?
This single feature would make my life so much easier, and it seems like such a simple update. Being able to have one out of many approvers approve a task on their own and send it to the next status with a single click will make workflows so much faster and reduce confusion. That's what a project management software is supposed to do. Come on Wrike, let's make this happen! We've been waiting over 2 years for this!
Rohan V Hello! This would also be a very useful feature for our company. Looks like it's on the Backburner though, so I was wondering if there might be any work arounds with the automation tool?
Thank you!
Hi Wrike, and updates on why this was placed on the Backburner? It's obviously a popular request!

Crazy to me that it can't do this. We have a number of workflows that I would love to move to wrike, but can't because of this limitation. For instance, I don't need everybody from HR to approve that a particular person works here before we do something, just somebody needs to confirm it. I tried to cheat it with automation. I see a triger for whenever somebody gives a response. Got my hopes up. But there is no action to remove other approvers or to mark it as approved overall.
Understandable, David Bell! Thanks for explaining. While there are no concrete plans at the moment, our team is aware that this is a popular suggestion. I’ll pass your feedback along and let you know if there are any updates in the future. 👍🏽

Basudha Sakshyarika Sounds like David Bell did his best to find a workaround without any success. Do you have any other ideas for a workaround using the automation tool that might help us? This is a pretty basic feature that we would really need for the approval system to work in real world scenarios.
I only need Mom OR Dad's permission, both feels impossible. I need that green check! ✅
Thank you, Soraya Jung and Gretchen Smith, for your upvotes and feedback 😊 This suggestion is on our product team’s radar, although there’s no ETA at the moment. We will keep everyone in the loop with any further updates.
Soraya Jung: Unfortunately, there’s currently no workaround with automation, as the required action in automation is currently not available. 👍🏽

We need this as well. It's impossible for other departments to know which of our Managers might be out of office at certain times, and we need to be able to allow 1 person from our Approval group to approve a project so that it is not held from moving forward. I would think this update would be somewhat urgent to fix as it's a major cause for delays currently and so many Wrike customers are being impacted by it. Your urgency in this matter would be greatly appreciated!
I would hope that AND / OR approver feature is added to Wrike
