[Status: Not Planned] Context-dependent Custom Fields
Via the custom item types it is possible to change the visibility of the custom fields per item. But we also need to control the visibility of custom fields depending on the selection of other custom fields and/or folder membership. Jira has a function like this.
Example: I have a Project and select "yes" in a custom single select field. Afterwards 3 more cutom fields should become visible and must be filled.
I have a similar question to yours Sebastian. Our ecommerce team would like to have custom fields that indicates a product type (like apparel) and then a field that appears when apparel is chosen where you can further specify (t-shirt, hat, etc). I don't think I can do it exactly the way they are asking. Does anyone have a work around?
Hi folks, this idea has reached the 60 votes threshold unusually quickly, thanks to everyone who upvoted here 👍
We checked with our Product team and for now, this idea is not on our roadmap. We will be bringing up this topic internally and we'll continue passing your feedback to our team. If there are any changes in the future, we'll let you know.

Wondering if anyone has found a workaround to the idea of custom fields being dependent on data in other custom fields?
I'm also looking for a way to "map" two custom fields, such that the options of one depend on the selection of the other. There is a similar functionality in Request Forms (conditional branching).
Hi @Andrea Fazio Timothy Carr, thank you for chiming in! We don't have updates about this feature at the moment, however, please rest assured that we will keep you informed if there are any changes 👍
