[Released] Adding the Duration Column to the timeline view

Completed

Earlier today, I submitted a request to add the Duration column into the timeline view of wrike.  This will allow a project manager to review the task, the duration, the predecessors, and assignee all in one view.

This will help project managers with efficiency of use if we’re to use Wrike to plan our projects.

The response I received was to use the gear and add predecessor.  I already see the predecessor. I was requesting the duration to be added to the timeline view.

I agree.  A duration column is something that is usually included in gantt charts and is very helpful information to present in this view.  Seems like a no-brainer to me

I love the new timeline view. Very helpful. But as noted above, it would be really helpful to be able to see and edit the estimated duration of a task. There are many times when I know how long something is going to take but when it starts will depend on several other items I'm not sure about the timing on. Being able to simply add the duration of tasks that are linked via predecessors instead of having to put in fake calendar entries would be really helpful.

Hi @Megan thanks for the feedback! it looks like you requested something similar a little while back and since this thread has some votes/comments and the other one doesn't I'm going to go ahead and mark the original as a duplicate. Let me know if you have any questions though!

Hi everyone, today our team released the option to add the "Duration" column to the table portion of the Timeline View! To use it, just click the gear icon on the left-hand side of the table and check the box next to Duration.

What are the duration shorthands?  1d works for 1 day, but what about 1w, 1m, etc?

@Zach, I had the same thought.  The baseline durations for different tasks in the standard timelines we work from are often set using weeks &/or months.

I am coming from MS Project which would provide additional units of time that you could select (i.e. wks, ewks, mons, emons).  Since Wrike did not have this ability, I was forced to create a simple calculator in Excel that would speed up my conversion of these different units (i.e. 13 months = 260 business/working days).

I feel that Wrike should add the ability to define durations using units of measurement that are better suited to describe the magnitude of larger quantities.  It would be more appropriate to describe "260 (business/working) days" using "months" as the UOM.

Hi Zach & Scott, this makes sense and it's something I'll certainly make the Product Team aware of for when they're reviewing the duration functionality in the future 👍

Stephen,

Has the Product Team created the ability to have duration based on months and years instead of only days?

Thanks,

Curt

@Curt Hey, thanks for posting. Currently, Duration is shown by the number of days only.
