[Status: Not planned] Feature Request: Automatically add task references to comment stream of referenced tasks
In my workflow, there are many times that one task relates to another task and I want to create a reference between both tasks. Right now I have to get the permalink for each task and add a comment (or update the description) with that permalink. It would be much better if I could reference a related task in one task and the related task would intelligently know it was referenced and update the comment steam with that. The example that comes to mind is how Github handles it.

This would be great. Our use case would be relating action items (e.g., tasks in a sub-folder under a parent 'ABC Project') to items in our project plan (e.g., sub-project under parent 'ABC Project'). The benefit would be us having a direct reference to associated work for scheduled items, without muddying up our project plan and having sub-tasks everywhere.
Lisa - any updates? Yearly check-in, I suppose, haha
Hi, I'm looking for this feature as well.

Hi, just chiming in here that this would greatly benefit our team as well. Some other people mentioned that JIRA does this so just to expand on that and explain our use case, when you clone an issue in JIRA, the newly created issue will automatically link to the original issue that was cloned. We use this feature a lot because we have several jobs that we end up doing another version of in the future, so we're always referring back to previous jobs. We're trying to simplify our processes by switching to Wrike from JIRA, but this feels like a part of our process that is going to be taking a step back in terms of efficiency because now people are going to need to take an extra step to copy the original task links and paste them into the new duplicated tasks.
Thank you for sharing your feedback and supporting this suggestion Bernadette 🙌

This feature is helpful for product management, especially for feature backlog and bug tracking.
I'm seeking the same thing. This is something I really liked about Jira -- you're able to, within a related work section of a ticket, search for another ticket and identify it as related with various words (including the 'dependencies' available in Wrike). This would be hugely helpful for a few things, but my current use case is bugs. For instance, we receive a report stating that there is x behavior. We identify that behavior as a bug and an engineer starts work. Separately, another user reports the same bug. I don't want to close it until I know the other bug is finished, but I also don't actually care about the "dependency" -- I really just want to come back in 6 months and be able to see "this bug we fixed was related to x other reports and created y work and took z hours of our time.
Thanks a lot for sharing your use case Lydia Marasa-Scafidi! While it's not possible to achieve automatically, it's still possible to copy another task's permalink and add it to the current task - the link will also show the status of the other task. So, whenever you open the task, you'll be able to see the reference to another task. Could this work for you?

Lisa unfortunately, no. while this makes it referenceable within Wrike, it doesn't allow me to report on "related requests" for a single issue, for instance.
I understand Lydia Marasa-Scafidi. How about creating a separate tag for all related issues? It could be a folder where the title would summarize an issue and all related tasks will belong to it (while they can also belong to other projects & folders at the same time).

I'd like to add another vote for this functionality. The manual copying and pasting of links is time-consuming and clunky. I would consider this a minimum requirement for a professional project management tool.
Hi Christine Little, welcome to the Community! Thank you for adding your support for this idea. I've passed your feedback on to our Product Team 👍

Add my vote for this feature as well. Having a seamless way to link related tasks would be very beneficial.
