Enable tagging in Table View

Tagging functionality is great. Table view is great. Our team wants to be able to use them together!

Specifically, it would be awesome if we could:

  1. Drag tags/folders from the folder hierarchy directly to tasks in the table and/or be able to add add tags/folders to a task via a search field on the task from within the table
  2. See tag/folder names next to the task title in the table
  3. Be able to remove tags/folders from tasks within the table

Thanks for the suggestion Josh. Currently, Table View shows the root in the list and not tagged Folders so it's a valuable suggestion. Thanks for sharing!

What do you mean by "shows the root" ? I'm in the table view, and selected a folder that shows several tasks that actually belong to various projects.

I selected the folder "Next tasks" but then.. the main owning project doesn't appear (which, from the point of view of this folder, is just another tag I guess?). Still.. to be able to see at a glance what project tags are applied to tasks in a folder would be super useful.

You could add it as an extra configurable field option, one that might display inline with the title or as a separate column.

Or explain how we could manage the same or similar with an extra field? I suppose this would require adding a field named "Project owner" and duplicate the info that is present in the tag, namely.. which project it belongs to ... ?

Hi Janie, sorry if I wasn't clear here. By 'root' Folder, I mean the Table View displays the Folder where the tasks have been created but not any Folders that have been tagged.

You need to open the task itself to see, at a glance, what other Folders have been tagged.

I understand your suggestion to add any tagged Folders as Custom Field data so it shows up as a column in the Table View. However you need to be aware this is a manual process, and as you already suggested, requires duplicating this information - which is not ideal.

For now, in Table View, the best way to see all tagged Folders is to open the task itself and check the tagged Folders. Also, I want to mention using Reports to see the Parent Folder as column there too which might be a helpful overview for you.

Thanks for your input on this topic and voting on the idea. We have made our Product Team aware of this thread and if are any updates, I'll be sure to post here.

I would also appreciate the ability to see tagged folders in table view. When you're organizing the table and ensuring everything is tagged correctly, it is a very manual process to have to open each ticket to see the tagged folders.

Our team would like to see tags in table view as well but with the caveat that the tagging can be hidden as well.
