Email Integration - Notes to Tasks from "foreign" email addresses

We are currently working with another company, basically as their sub-contractor and exchanging a large number of emails to negotiate the scope of a project.

From our point of view, each topic is a task and we cc the emails to the tasks so we have a record of the discussion and visibility for our staff.

Any emails we send get added as notes to the tasks, but the replies don’t (even with the Wrike task in the cc). We only automatically store half the conversation. This is a problem.

It could be argued that we set the other company up as collaborators, however they have their own project management system and would be highly reluctant for us to “impose” our project management system on them.

Ideally Wrike could accept the reply emails on the basis that it saw their addresses when we sent the emails in the first place, or as an alternative, allow us to add a list of acceptable email addresses?

Hi Bryan! Thanks for the detailed post. I appreciate the suggestions here, and I can see that you understand the downsides of allowing any unregistered addresses to send in emails to your Wrike account :) Collaboration is an experience we're currently researching, and we actually just launched a dedicated post about it, which includes a link to a survey, it would be super helpful to hear your thoughts about it there - Real time collaboration in Wrike: share your experience.

Agree 100% with this - we need to track the email conversation regardless if the person who sends the email is setup on our Wrike system or not. It is not practical to ask everyone in an email conversation to become a colaborator

Another drawback in email is that we need to change email subject to update the task. Would be better if we could use the first line of the body to update status, due time, and others, And the email engine maintain the same thread.

The e-mail from 'foreign' users doens't comment the task. It's very common when dealing with people out of our company (a list of accpetable from address email would avoid spam in tasks).

I just ran into this as we are now looking into using email permalinks in the CC field.  We also cannot impose additional tools onto our customers, so having their replies added automatically would really help our productivity.

II wouldn't mind adding them as collaborators, and giving them access by folder, but I only need their ability to post via email, I don't want them logging into the UI...

I am sure that it's a bit complex to work out how to filter the incoming senders, but I encourage you to work this one out soon!!

Thanks!!
