Track time by Parent Folder only
I need to be able to track time spent on a project month-by-month, and to be able to check it several times per month. I would like to be able to run a report (or filter, since I can't actually run time-entry-based reports) that shows time spent on tasks within a certain date range sorted and sub-totalled by Parent Folder (Project) only.
Currently, these reports subtotal time spent by any folder, which does not give me a full view of time spent by Project, since it separates out and subtotals any tasks that have other folder tags (like "task type" folders/tags).
*Bonus if this can be a report we set up and have emailed to a user on a specified day of the month (maybe filtered by "time spent this calendar month" to get an aggregated view of the month's work)...
Hello Lacy! Thanks a lot for sharing your feedback here and I really appreciate you elaborating on your use case.
Currently, the best solution would be to do the following:
This would give you the desired outcome. I noticed in one of your tickets that you already tried this approach and it doesn’t seem to work due to your tasks being tagged by multiple folders, but I wanted to mention it here in case it helps any other Community members.
The ideal solution would definitely be to filter Timelog entries in Reports. Plus, this would also allow to subscribe to such a Report and receive it automatically on your email! A similar request already exists and you can find it here. I’d strongly recommend to upvote it and add your use case as a comment there.
Some other awesome news is that this is indeed something we’re considering, though there are no specific dates to share yet. :)
I hope the above makes sense and I'll be looking forward to your comment in the aforementioned post!
