[Status: Launched ๐] Showing subtasks in Dashboard when also on parent task
Hey, just a quick question: I note that whenemver I'm on both a parent and its subtasks only the parent task shows up in my custom dashboards and I can't seem to find an option to "include subfolders" or what have you on current dashboards. Is that something I can add to my current ones or can be implemented in replacement dashboards? Thanks!
We are considering switching from Wrike too, this issue neglects all the other handy features :(
If one more Wrike team member comes in here to tell us that this is acceptable behavior, and that it's not a bug or an oversight, we're switching to Monday. This literally makes subtasking almost useless, and a huge liability.
Dave Silva I don't think you and I have interacted, but I've read several of your posts over the years.ย To see someone with a "Green Belt" seriously considering moving (haven't heard of Click Up) should be a wake-up call to Wrike.ย I assume you are even more entrenched into Wrike than my team is and the cost of moving is high so if even the long-time users are gettng fed up I truly hope they change their tune quickly.
Our dear customers and users! We plan to address this issue by providing an option to display a flat, sorted list of items instead of a hierarchical one in new dashboards. We haven't integrated this functionality yet, but it will be coming soon to Labs. I'm sorry that you all have to wait so long for it, but it's coming to an end.ย
New dashboards are available in Labs already so that you can try them out and provide your feedback, but please keep in mind that they are not fully production-ready yet, and there are some important features that are still missing. It's something we will catch up on pretty quickly.ย
We should have spoken on this issue earlier, but we really wanted to have something in Labs first you can start using immediately. It's still not the case but we are pretty close and I feel it was necessary to relieve some pressure by speaking up about it.ย
Our dear customers and users, the functionality of displaying items in the dashboards either as a flat list or as a hierarchy is now available in Labs. You can toggle between two modes using the corresponding command in the table widgets' menu. In addition to that, you can also easily show/hide locations (folder names) and switch between responsive (auto, based on the width), list, and table modes.
We decided to make the flat mode the default one, and it's different between classic and new dashboards. Please let us know what you think about that change. We are still in the Labs and are open to changes based on the feedback.ย
ย
I'm not seeing this functionality in Labs nor in the Classic Dashboard views. Can someone show us where to look?
Travis, please check this out
New Dashboards Are Here: Upgrade to the New Experience in Wrike Labs!ย
Thank you Vladimir, but we're trading one problem for others by "upgrading" to the new dashboard format. The new dashboards aren't ready for primetime; they are still missing a couple of widgets that I depend on (something I have submitted feedback on a few times since it was rolled out).
Side note: My team is reeling from the "new experiences" this year and needing hours to be caught up and adjusted to finding everything.
At any rate, after five years of this subtask issue, thank you for making some progress.
This is wonderful news! My team was on the brink of killing our Wrike subscription over this sub-task issue.. I guess we are staying with Wrike then :)ย
But five years to get it resolved...?? Shame on Wrike's product team and prioritization/understanding your customer needs. Colorful labels and new views are great nice-to-haves, but not when it's at the expense of the core functionality sitting broken and unresolved.
Travis, you're right that new dashboards do not have everything that classic ones have, but we are working on that, and there are use cases when they may be beneficial, like the one you mentioned. I guess you're not a big fan of having two dashboards instead of one, but maybe it could be a temporary solution while we catch up.ย ย
Anna, I'm happy to hear that, and I hope we will excite you way more in the next five years than disappoint.ย
Hi,ย
I received a mail informing this feature has been developed in the year 2023. But i am still facing the issue in my Dashboard view.ย
The sub tasks are grouped under parent task and all show as per the due date of the parent task.ย
The widget is the My Tasks widget with no option to customize and taken as on 1st Feb 2024
Am i missing any check or any alternative to fix this. Please share.ย
ย
Kaushik, please use the "Show as flat list" option in the widget's menu to get the desired look.

Got it,ย
Thanks Vladmir, :)
Just a quick note - When we change the status of the Product Request to Launched. Would be really helpful if someone could actually share the documentation on how the new feature/fix would work or at least a link to the relevant article.
Kaushik, I'm glad to hear it's worked for you! You're right and we should have posted a note about the resolution and how it works.
August 13th, 2024, and this is still an issue. Our team needs the functionality to see subtasks in our widgets and we still cannot. The only advice I was given from Wrike was to tag subtasks in the parent task, which will then make subtasks show as "duplicates" in two places in the project, creating more confusion. I highly encourage Wrike to create the functionality within new dashboards to show all projects, tasks, and subtasks within one widget without issues. This seems like a basic function that any project management software should have.ย
Hi Amie Cotton ๐ Have you tried using the "Show as flat list" option? With this feature, you can view all tasks and subtasks within a widget. Iโm attaching a screenshot below for your reference. Hopefully, this serves as a helpful workaround for your use case.ย
