I originally commented on this addition back in 2017 and after almost 6 years nothing has been done. I am very disappointed that such a simple request keeps being ignored. It is obvious that this function is wanted and needed by many users.

As much as our team would love to be able to work on many great suggestions posted in the Community, they simply can't commit to that. Our team releases some of the ideas generated by the members here, and that's why we keep passing the feedback together with the vote count, and have regular internal discussions on customer feedback. This seems like such a simple ask. Can't they even create a custom field that auto-numbers tasks starting with 0001? Or add a formula option that does that? This is such a basic thing for project management software to have, I don't understand how it keeps getting shrugged off.

Hi Lisa, I'm also adding my voice to this thread. Auto numbered tasks and projects starting from 0 or 100 would be a game changer for our 160 user instance. We currently have a workaround using an external project naming generator with a piece of javascript that appends a 5 digit code to the end of the project name. But this is something external that we have custom built.  We are also experimenting with an auto task numbering system that a 3rd party developed and integrates with wrike by auto-appending a simple task ID to the front of a task and doesn't rely on Wrike's 10 digit auto numbering.

Would really like to see this as a built in feature in the near future.

Sarah Fischer would love more info on the javascript code and the 3rd party that integrates with Wrike for numbering!

Wrike really needs to add this feature. From what I've seen the Wrike ID is really more for Wrike itself to organize and find things. They need to add something separate that is actually useful and can be customized.

Wrike IDs vs custom IDs that follow our own numbering system are a huge pain point for my company. This has been requested by many users over many years — when will the request be taken seriously?

This request just had its 7th birthday. Can we please get a custom field or something that auto-increments?

Adding my upvote to this too. We have a Creative Agency within our Marketing department that utilizes a numbering scheme to track their jobs. It's helpful for internal tracking and also for marketers to have when they are submitting requests for modifications

I am echoing all that I have read here and I upvoted as well. We are currently onboarding Wrike and I am so surprised there isn't a shorter job number or a way to customize to make the job number more useful. I've used many tools and this is the first tool I've used that doesn't have that as option. I dread going to the Creatives to ask them to add these long digits to their file names...but what I dread even more is having a separate spreadsheet or tracker to generate a useful number (and figure out which one is next!). Hoping this comes off backburner status soon. Would love this see this in development!
