Allow custom workflow view on "PROJECTS" top level folder

Love the new Kanban view for folders and projects... that view is based on Workflows, and we use a Custom Workflow for all of our Projects. Would be great if it were possible to select the Custom Workflow for the top level "PROJECTS +" folder as well - so we can see status consistently across all of our sub-projects and folders.

Hi Ann, thanks for sharing this idea! Just to make sure I got this right: you'd like to toggle between all existing workflows when viewing tasks on the Board View from the root? Do you think the option to switch between workflows would be useful when looking at this view on a Folder/Project level too? Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Anastasia,

Yes I think the ability to toggle between workflows (at the "all projects" level) would be necessary and extremely useful in order to support the Board views. While we don't currently use multiple custom workflows, I understand that this is a feature that is used frequently by many of your users. And in order to be able for us to select our custom workflow to view in a board, I would imagine toggling/switching workflows would be necessary.

Just to clarify with images - here is an example of how we use boards within a specific project, (which uses our Custom Workflow):



 

And here is the board that we see when viewing all projects (root level, PROJECTS +), and we're not able to use the board view, since we can't view it with our Custom Workflow (no tasks for our Projects appear):

Ann, thanks for following up! This is really helpful and I appreciate the screenshots, they're great. Something I wanted to mention, in case it helps anyone on the Community, is that the Default Workflow is shown when looking ta the Board View from the account root. This means that if you don't use several Custom Workflows, you can modify the default workflow and see it consistently across all locations. Happy to hear your thoughts on this!

I would like to re-iterate this request.  All of my folders and projects use the same custom workflow, but my organization as a whole would not want to change the default workflow to match me.  This means the root workflow is the only level that I can't use, as it breaks a few items:

  1. New items created from the dashboard view assume the root level on creation.  Adding the folder after filling in the title does not update the status, so I end up with tasks that are orphaned in the wrong state.  The work around is to manually adjust the starting status for all tasks I create, or avoid creating tasks while in the dashboard.  I would prefer to stay in the dashboard view most of the time.
  2. I can't use the Board view in the root level.  The correct status has to be added manually, and the board won't show the proper status labels.
