[Status: Not planned] Duplicate multiple tasks from a project or task to another task

I would like the ability to duplicate multiple tasks from one project or  Task to another Task.   I can't duplicate a whole project to a task, I can only duplicate a whole project to another project.

For example I have a couple of templates with standard tasks, milestones and dependancies.  When I have a new project I can select my template project and duplicate the whole project (all the tasks / subtasks) to the new project.  I can assign a pre-fix name (I really like this feature)  and duplicate it right to the target project.  I can't do the same with tasks.  I can only duplicate one task at a time, in the same project (I can't duplicate it to another project).  It would be very useful to be able to select multiple task then duplicate them to a project or task.

Hi Ben Laycock and everyone!

I've asked the team to provide us with an update here, and for now, they don't have this idea on the short-term roadmap.

We'll continue to pass on all your feedback here and ask for regular updates.

I understand this might be disappointing news, but please rest assured this suggestion stays on our radar. Thank you for voting and supporting here, everyone!

Been reading a couple of posts about this functionality - one that I have quickly run into as a recent user of Wrike. Are there any updates on this becoming implemented? It is basic functionality - to copy and paste/duplicate really anything! Thank you.

Hi Michelle Chen, welcome to the Community 👋

It's possible to duplicate tasks, projects, folders, reports and many other items. Could you please tell me more about your use case and what you're trying to achieve exactly?

Bump.  I'm not seeing an update and I have a need to copy a selection of tasks into multiple projects.

Looking for an update on this....  If we have to follow the steps listed on the previous page, how do we remove the "tag" from the set of tasks we need to replicate in multiple projects.

I accomplish this (FWIW) by having a folder with a master task and the subtasks under it.  Then I simply, tag the projects to this folder temporarily, duplicate the master task, and drag it into the projects.  Once everything looks good, I then remove the project tag from that folder so only the master task (template) remains.  Depending on how many projects you're looking at... this may help.

I also do imports from excel in batches to make this easier for when there is a LOT to bring in.

Hi - I missed the response to my message earlier.

I still do not see an option to duplicate multiple tasks. I can duplicate one at a time, but that is tedious.

Hi Michelle Chen 👋 At this moment, it's not possible to duplicate multiple tasks at once. However, as suggested by other community members above, you might find it helpful to save tasks as a blueprint or copy the folder containing the tasks. I understand this might not be exactly what you're looking for; I've forwarded your comment to the Product Team. If there's any update in the future, I'll be sure to let you know 👍

Definitely suggest this be added. It's a very obvious feature and surprised that it hasn't been added given the number of commenters over the past seven years.

This is crazy that there's no simple functionality to copy multiple tasks.

Im in shock that this is still not a standard feature... IT'S A COPY AND PASTE.     I get this complaint from my team constantly and it appears still nothing has happened after 5 years.   Wrike seems more interested in making overly complicated features vs. implementing simple solutions that the community is asking for.

I just spoke with Wrike Support because I was surprised that a basic duplicate or copy/paste of (sub)tasks to other tasks is not possible. I see this post and others from 2017/2018 with many upvotes and comments, and yet it's still not possible. Why is such basic functionality missing?

I have a hundred projects, all need multiple tasks and sub tasks imported, none of the workarounds are sensible as they all carry risk when working with large teams and room for human error.

You guys need to listen to your users and stop this "I understand your frustration nonsense" just add the basic functionality or be truthful and tell everyone it's not going to happen.

Basudha Sakshyarika, that's unfortunate. This feels like a very foundational request for a way to copy and paste. I'd have taken this well before  reworking views that were fine or adding AI into everything.

Basudha Sakshyarika This really needs to be a feature. I agree with the sentiment here, its ridiculous that this isnt a feature by now.   This ask has been open for 7 years now...

I totally get where you’re coming from, Jason Deller and Brandon Clark. We’re making sure all the feedback from here gets to our product team. Right now, this feature isn’t on the roadmap, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be considered in the future. We should also have a better idea as we get more clarity on the plans for the coming year, and we’ll make sure to keep everyone updated! Thanks!
