[Status: Backburner ⌛️] Filter out subtasks in reports
Hi,
Please add to the filter list the option to filter out subtasks. We need a way of viewing only parent tasks in reports that pull tasks from nested folders.
Thanks for your consideration!
Boaz
We have a lot of teams that primarily use tasks and subtasks as opposed to projects and tasks, so we would love to have the ability to filter out subtasks on reports and dashboards too.
Any updates on this request? From a user perspective, this is such a basic feature that I'm shocked it's not available. Creating a custom field to sort by "Task" and "Subtask" is not a feasible workaround for me. I need this functionality so I can quickly determine my team's average cycle time per task without heavy, manual intervention. Unless anyone knows of another way to easily calculate cycle time?
@... still no update? The custom field solution will be far too high maintenance, and it is shocking that I can't filter by task/sub-task on a report.
Hi Kara House, welcome to the Community! 👋
This suggestion remains a "Backburner" for now as the Product team doesn't have this in their plans currently due to other priorities. We will continue to pass on your feedback and the vote count here to the team for future consideration.
Thank you for supporting the suggestion! Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.

Hi Lisa, I could use this filter enhancement for my reporting as well. Could you give us an update when you have a chance?
Hello,
As a creative project manager, it would be immensely helpful to have the option to filter out subtasks from parent tasks when I'm generating reports. With no way of viewing only parent tasks in reports, it's really hard to get a clear sense of the number of tasks associated with each author or assignee. Is there an update on when this will be rolled out?
Thanks for your consideration!
Thanks a lot for your continued feedback here, folks!
While this suggestion is not currently planned - the team is getting ready for many exciting releases planned this year and can't prioritize this suggestion at the moment - they do have plans to get back to potential report enhancements in the future 👍

Hi there,
adding an additional vote in 2023. Having sum figures in table view is great, but it would really be good to filter for only task and exclude sub-tasks. Structured hierarchical view is good for structure, but then we are missing sum function on workflow status in a report.
Since we have a special use-case, we try to fill a custom field for the tasks created from a form. Subtasks normally do not have these form but it is still a dirty hack.
Thank you for sharing your use case Raimund Dienst! I'll pass it on, along with your feedback, to our Product team and let you know if there are any updates planned in the future 🙂

I'm handling this by having a separate workflow for main tasks and sub tasks. Then on the report, if I only want to see main tasks, I can filter to show only tasks with the main task workflow.
Thank you for sharing your solution here Ian Hlavacek! I'm sure other members will benefit from it 👍
Ian Hlavacek this worked for me - thank you for this workaround!
