Remove "show more" from comments

Please remove the "show more" from comments on tasks. I shouldn't have to click that on every comment, this wastes a lot of time. Comments are an important part of tasks. Most often they are instructions or feedback, they should be fully visible without having to click anything.

I agree. At the very least, the "show more" functionality should only kick-in if the comment is very long. Right now it shortens comments that aren't even very long.

Comment is 100 lines -- probably good to hide part of it

Comment is 4 lines -- not so much

I agree it is a waste of time clicking "show more" AND it means that parts of comments can be missed if someone scrolls through and doesn't open them up.

@Dave, thank you for commenting here and weighing in on the feedback! I checked in with our Product Managers, and wanted to let everyone know that the team is already working on making the "Show More" functionality smarter. Thanks for sharing your ideas about this here! :)

Anastasia, totally agree with the above comments.

I loathe this feature of Wrike. As someone who preflights all our print projects, along with giving final instructions and approvals to our vendors, I need to "know everything" and have to open all the comments to be sure I have all the facts. Why can't all comments be available through a scrolling window? Start with the most recent comments at the top in a defined window space and allow us to scroll down to see the progression backwards in time with intact complete entries. This would be an amazing improvement and time saver for me.

"Start with the most recent comments at the top in a defined window space and allow us to scroll down to see the progression backwards in time with intact complete entries."

This would be very helpful for me as well.

@Micki, thank you for sharing these ideas, this is some great feedback. I wanted to link you and @Ettelie to another Community post which I think you'd be interested in voting for too, based on the description you shared: Sort Comments by Newest at the Top.

I 100% agree with all of the comments. Often I scroll through long threads to try and find info I need and clicking "show more" on each comment is very tedious.

Gah! My team is continually missing critical points because comments are rolled up and they didn't notice! The show more button is particularly hard to notice -- at the very least it could be a different colour . . .

Please fix this ASAP and let us know when we can expect to see full comments again.

Hi,

Is there any way to remove the "show more updates" feature from the comments thread, in a task, that's been enabled? My team is missing instructions due to the "show more updates" added feature. I've already attempted letting everyone know that they must click on that but our tempo is high and details are being overlooked a lot of times.

Thank you for the consideration.

Hi everyone! @Courtney and @Sara, thanks for weighing in on this request, I really appreciate it. If you haven't already, make sure to click the "+" under the original post to add your vote here. @Dave, I understand that this is important to your team, and this feedback helps spark conversations with our Product Managers about potential improvements. The suggestions outlined in this post are something I've brought up specifically with the team, and while we can't implement everything momentarily, this is something that's being discussed internally. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your concerns here, it really matters since it helps us understand the different situations teams encounter when using the functionality.

I agree!  The "show more" button has been killing our productivity.  At the very least we should have the option to globally enable/disable it.  I would love the ability to be able to control when it kicks in and how much of the comment is shows.  We have started to just add at the top of all our comments "Click the show more button" because the show more button is actually very tiny and very easy to miss.

Making the SHOW MORE button more noticeable is NOT the real issue - having to CLICK is the issue. The fewer clicks is ALWAYS the better option, scrolling is my preferred option. I would love to know the reasoning behind thinking SHOW MORE was introduced. The logic seems so counterproductive to efficiencies the system provides in other areas.

I think the issue is both. IF there is a Show More link, it should be MUCH more noticeable than it is now. However, I agree that the whole issue can be avoided by eliminating it altogether. Having to do an extra click AND possibly missing it because it is hard to notice is particularly bad.

I actually like Dave Silva's idea of showing all if it's a small comment section and rolling it up to "show more" if it's longer.  Our team often forwards emails into the comments section, and having to scroll through all those would be much more time consuming than an extra click to show more.  If "show more" were a configurable option, that might be even better.

Hi everyone, happy Thursday! Wanted to let you know that we just released the update which disables the "Show More" option for smaller comments, and now only long ones will be collapsed. Hi again everyone, I wanted to quickly share another update we just released, which will be helpful for those who wanted to view a seamless stream of conversation in the comments section. It's now possible to filter out system updates, and view only comments:

We use Wrike to actively manage our installation projects, but when the installation is complete, we would like to export/print the comments section of the project and archive it in our customer records with the rest of the project documentation. We use the "email updates to this project" feature a LOT, and event when I expand the "show all" feature on these emailed comments, when I select print, it prints the collapsed version. Very frustrating to have all of that dialogue stuck there instead of being able to save a record on my network with the rest of the project records. Please fix!!

Hi Bethany, thanks for sharing your idea here! We don't have this request on the Community yet, and it would be great if you could add this as a separate post to the Product Feedback section for other users to vote for too. Will be happy to see your suggestion there!

Hi all,

I am happy to see this has been partly solved and to discover how attentive the Wrike team is!

This issue still bugs us and yesterday we spent 15 min solving a mystery of a feedback that seems to have been missing but in fact was hiding in the "Show more". What happened was that the user received a notification (see jpg 1)

but then when he went to the feed he couldn't find that specific comment he saw in the notification, because it was hiding in "show more" that is currently not very visible.

He made a very valid comment that when working with remote teams on these types of projects these things are critical and time sensitive, and both sides need to have confidence it the system that feedback is visible and east to find.

I'd like to recommend you cancel it for long comments as well or at least make it more visible, so user, especially new ones, won't miss it.

Thanks,

Miri.
