[Status: Launched ๐] Export project's planning (Timeline) as a PDF file instead of a blurry PNG image
CompletedCurrently when you want to export a projet timeline you got only two options : PNG - a blurry low resolution image, or Excel - without the GANTT planning view.
During meetings with customers or partners, we are currently using an other planning tool that give us the ability to export event big planning timelines (3-4-5 months) as a PDF file with perfect quality for the screen and for printing.
Usually for theses meetings we sent the planning by email before and then print it on A3 size paper several copies, everybody participants have one and can take notes on it.
As open source PDF export framework are existing, too bad that Wrike doesn't provide this feature yet.
Regards
Julien
Hi Julien, thank you for sharing your feedback about this! Something I wanted to suggest, in case you haven't had a chance to try it out yet, is the the Timeline Snapshot feature, which allows you to send a link to customers or partners who aren't members of your Wrike account. Some tips on customizing the Snapshot can be found in thisย Community post: Share and Customize Timeline Data. That said, I understand that being able to export in PDF format is important to you, and I'll make sure to direct users with similar feedback to this post.
Being able to export to PDF seems so fundamental that not having it is almost alarming. Help. This is needed.ย
ย
I agree.ย The PNG file is not a workable file.ย We need something like MS Project where you can print based on selection of the timeline, scale, and paper size.ย It's okay if it's multiple pages.ย Just need a quick way to print the schedule for meetings, etc.ย Not everyone in my office has a laptop and many people prefer paper to make comments/edits.ย
@Mike and @Geoff, thank you for sharing your thoughts about this and why this is important for your use case. I understand how this functionality would make the process of sharing information more seamless for you. I knowย that you are looking for a solution, and while this feature isn't implemented yet, I wanted to share a workaround which might help in the meanwhile:
ย
I understand that this is a workaround and not the solution you are looking for, and it's great that you've shared your thoughts about this functionality, I can definitely agree that this makes sense. Thank you once more for taking the time to comment here!
Hi Anastasia,
It's unfortunately not a workaround, creating a PDF by printing the UI doesn't mean to have the usual PDF quality.
You can try it by yourself, the printed file will have exactly the same quality as a snapshot print.
Regards
I agree Julien. The request here is basic. While your answer and tone are appreciated, I think we (paying users) would rather know if this basic functionality will be coming to Wrikeย
@Mike Myers I agree with you, regrading my tone if you want to take the "bad cop"ย position be my guest ;)
(Sorry Anastasia but this is really an emergency)
Julien - Sorry. I meant Anastasia's tone...:)
Also - while we are on this topic - the reports should also be able to be printed to PDF.ย For reports larger than my monitor, I don't see how I can print and capture all of the information...so I need to export to Excel, make printer changes, and print.ย Extra steps that slow me down.ย Looking forward to a solution for printing both the timeline and the reports. Thank you.
Hi @Julien, @Mike, @Geoff I'm jumping in for Anastasia here. At this time it's not on our roadmap to enhance the PDF printing capabilities from the Timeline View. That said, we know this is important and both Anastasia and I made sure to raise this issue with Project Managers. Upvotes to the original post help us keep this an ongoing conversation with PMs so we'll make sure to direct any additional users who request the feature here.ย
Hi @Stephanie, @Anastasia,
I've taken good note that PDF printing feature is not a priority in your roadmap, too bad but thank your for this clear information.
Our company is still in the trial period butย I'm optimistic that I'll be able to convince my boss to subscribe to a Professional plan regardingย Wrike's awesome features for project management, even if we have to pay $112/y and enter data twice (most expensive point regrading our hourly fees) in Tom's Planner tool with which we can create perfect project timeline planning in PDF files.
Thank your for your time and support
Best
Julien

Exporting the timeline as a pdf file is very important. PNG is not acceptable resolution for incorporating it into any presentation or report.
Hi @Stuart, I completely understand, and thanks for adding your +1 here, it really helps us track the number of requests for this feature.ย
Hi - As a new user to Wrike I would also support a review of the output options available. I came across this thread searching for a timeline print solution. Blurry PNG (only) is not useful for incorporating into presentation documents/formats. I can't seem to get any page breaks - I've resorted to taking successive screenshots on my pc and cropping them...Also have a look at the colour schemes - descriptionsย associated with timeline bars don't read well in lime green. Thanks.
Hi @Jonathan thanks for comment here! If you haven't already, please make sure to add a +1 to the first comment in the thread, it helps us keep track of the number of requests.
Yup, this was one of the first big issues we had with wrike, TWO TEARS AGO. Disapointed it still has not been fixed. Hopefully it makes it on the roadmap soon. +1 added to Julien's request.
I just added another Comment/Post about getting a working Master Schedule view into Wrike, so that I do not have to leave the system to do my job. I tried printing the ways you all suggested and I am in the same boat as all my fellow Wrike users above. Please add this to your roadmap.ย

+1 for Julien's request
+1 for Julien's request
Adding to the other requests here.
If you have ever tried using the print feature on a project on projects that runs longer than one year; you end up with an absolute mess.
Unless we are able to have a proper means to physically print schedules; I will never be able to use Wrike to present schedules to clients or use during offline meetings.
I would also like to see some sort of vector graphics export (e.g. SVG) for inclusion into other documents (e.g. PowerPoint).ย
(Yes, I understood that the payable Office Timeline allows visualization in PowerPoint)
We are in need of this as well. ย Another +1
I would like to emphatically add my voice to this request. While I personally am happiest working and presenting digitally in a live environment, I still have a number of colleagues who practically demand an up to date physical print out of current project statuses and timelines to take into meetings, briefings etc. I really hope the new timeline view will allow simple print-friendly PDF export. Thanks!
Printing a report or timeline is essential. Even the ability to export or save a PDF of the printable version would be ideal (save the trees!).
I use the Report > Create snapshot, but that still does not allow for proper printing. Definitely adding my vote for this feature. An absolute must!
Big +1ย I can create a timeline view that works OK for me, but cannot share it or print it without losing the project status colors, task colors, etc. that all mean something on the timeline view. For example, why
+1 for this request. It is becoming more important for our teams to be able to clearly export timeline views.ย
Anotherย +1 from me for this request - exporting as png just doesn't cut it unfortunately...
This is a needed featureย +1 from me
This is a required feature, +1 from me! ย
Can we have an update from Wrike please.
Hi all, our Product Team is discussing this option,ย however,ย I have no further information to share at the moment.
Please continue toย vote and comment on any use-case you have. This information really adds a lot of value to these discussions so thank you all!
If and when I have any further information, I'll be sure to share with you here ๐
