[Status: Backburner ⏳] Task Reminder via Wrike E-Mail Notification

It would be awesome to be able to right-click on a task (or sub-task) - or use a menu option - to tell Wrike to send a reminder at a certain date/time to selected team members.

Let's say I have a task that is assigned to me, but I am waiting on a response from a vendor.  I want a reminder (via Wrike e-mail notification with a link to the task) to trigger me to follow up with that vendor to see where things stand. I don't want to have to add any additional tasks in the project as a reminder task or manually add a reminder to my calendar in Outlook - that's just clunky.

I have used the iCal sync, but when I try to set a reminder on the item in the calendar in Outlook, I get an error that the folder does not support reminders and that the calendar is read-only, so I can't set a reminder anyway.

Other tools, under consideration by my team, have this feature and it's been useful in our testing while we are in the PM tool selection process.

Before diving into complex features like Automation Engine or Work Templates, shouldn't you first ensure that the basic and fundamental aspects of your software are working or even existing?

At least add a functionality to the Wrike bot that would let me set reminders through the comments section "@Wrike Bot remind me/@person in 2 days" or something similar.

The neglect of this request for over 5 years, which is obviously extremely useful and therefore highly relevant, really calls into question your company's commitment to user feedback.

Welcome to the forums Ruben Dietl! Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.

I understand that this could be a useful feature for your team, and I'll share your thoughts with the responsible Product team at Wrike. A couple of things I'd like to mention here is that you can snooze inbox notifications and set up when you'd like to get them again as unread - please read more info about this feature in this Help Center article. Also, it's recommended to use My to-do or dashboards to keep all important tasks at hand - please let me know if you'd like to discuss this further!

What I need is,

on a desktop web browser version,

a reminder twice a week for a task I need to manage whenever I open my browser on those days in the morning. im sure it could sync to google calendar without too much more difficulty, but all I really need is that, I don't want it on my calendar, I just want it maybe in my Wrike Inbox.

Hey hey! Neurodiverse person, here. I NEED those email reminders for tasks! This is a potential disability issue, here. I recommend getting this fixed ASAP.

I would love to be able to set the frequency, etc.--something as simple as a Google/MS 360/etc. reminder.  These could be set up by the individual who was assigned. I need to make my own reminders due to timing, etc.I mean, we had to set up an entire automation for a simple reminder, and it didn't even remind me. It just resent the task to my email again. If I didn't know what was coming, I would have just disregarded it thinking that I already saw that task was assigned. Hopefully that makes sense.

Hi folks!

There are some blockers for this development at the moment, so we don't have an ETA for the release right now. Task reminders are still planned by our Product team, but it will take more time than initially anticipated. We'll keep you posted!

Our workaround for reminders is to have a separate date Custom Field for each user - wherein they mark the date they wish to be reminder.  it also involves them having a separate project where all such tasks with reminders are multi housed.   this way they can define a daily / weekly review of task that they need to work on.  once the official reminders feature rolls out, we would consider changing our workflow.  7 years and counting...

Can a reminder be setup in Wrike in notifications that also pops up on the screen when in Wrike.  For instance, reminders to work on self-assessment due in 17 days?  This would be better than including in the daily Wrike task emails.

a pop up reminder within Wrike would be great... if supported with a view where one could see all upcoming reminders... that way one could plan for the day / week ahead.  Nicole Rosenfeld

@... any word on how the team will implement reminders? It would be good to have menu options, but I also like the idea of being able to write in the comments - something like !remindme 3 days "Follow up on quote"

I'd honestly just be happy to right click on a task and click on "remind me" and set the notifications that way. SO easy. There must be some crazy back end coding going on if this has been an issue for this long!

Hi everyone! Although I understand this is not exactly what you're looking for, automation rules remain the best option for creating reminders. Considering that this option has been mentioned before in this thread, I'd kindly ask you to let us know if you have any additional questions on how to implement automation rules in your case so we can provide you with an accurate reply.

Also, please rest assured that we will share with you any available updates as soon as we are informed of changes being implemented 👍

Thank you!

Greetings team! I would like to express my interest as well in having a reminder feature implemented. I understand this thread has been active for several years, and I haven't had the chance to read through the entire discussion. However, I would greatly appreciate if this feature could be added as soon as possible. I was quite surprised to find that it wasn't already available, and I spent nearly an hour searching for it before reaching out. Thanks!

Hi Lisa, this past October you said you guys were working on implementing this feature. May I ask what happened?

"when we have news here in the future". Well, if ever there was an open ended statement, here it is. Comments like this, and there has been several, are the precise reason that we stopped using Wrike all the time such a crucial function is missing.

388 votes - what does it take for product feedback to be taken seriously by Wrike?

I've tried creating some automation rules for what we need and they are not suitable. We have reached out to Wrike about this.

We need to be able to set reminders in a reliable way. I wanted a simple daily reminder or bot tag every day for a high priority task in a specific folder. Automation gave me the reminder on the first day, but then never again despite the status not changing within the scoped change interval. Very frustrating.

My team also showed interest in email reminders as it would be great for reminding us to deploy changes in our system as we have strict deployment times and a task can change status days before that and get lost in other work.

We also tried some of the automation, but so far it hasn't worked out the way we wanted it.

But honestly from what i have seen it shouldn't take to much development time with what the system can already handle (sending mails, automation, etc.) , it feels more like Wrike wants to keep the user and communication as much in Wrike as possible.

I hope we will find a workaround, but in my opinion it would be great and more user-friendly if we could get this reminder feature so im looking forward  to updates in this thread :)

Hi everyone!

We wanted to provide an update on this popular feature suggestion.

Firstly, we want to express our sincere appreciation for your feedback. We understand how this feature could enhance your Wrike experience. Our team has been diligently investigating the possibility of implementing reminders, taking into account your valuable suggestions and use cases.

However, due to a need to prioritize other critical improvements, we are currently unable to proceed with the implementation of reminders. As a result, we have had to change the status of this request back to 'Backburner'.

We understand that this news may be disappointing. Please know that this decision was not made lightly. Our team is continuously striving to balance the development of new features with the enhancement of existing ones, all while ensuring the overall performance and reliability of Wrike.

While we cannot provide a timeline for when or if this feature will be revisited, we want to assure you that your feedback is critical to us. All suggestions are regularly reviewed and play a significant role in our development planning.

We appreciate your understanding and patience and encourage you to continue sharing your feedback and suggestions. It's your input that helps us shape the future of Wrike.

Oh dear oh dear.

Well I have to be totally honest and say I saw this coming, hence jumping ship a long time ago to a product which does provide this feature as standard (it should be a feature of ANY project management software and Wrike know this), and am I glad I did!!  We use it all the time and simply cannot see how project management can be carried out without reminders, it isn't possible.

This announcement comes across as about as insincere and pre-scripted as I've seen in this thread over the last 7 years.  There has been a huge dangly carrot just keeping people hanging on in the hope of implementation to the point that moving on becomes difficult, but I doubt very much that there was ever an intention to implement this absolutely critical and basic feature.  I still find it inconceivable that Wrike is seriously marketing this product as a project management tool, yet it has no ability to set task level reminders. It's simply bizarre and makes it totally unusable for the function of project management.

I think most of all, this whole debacle has proven that there is no purpose whatsoever in users providing feedback.  Wrike has its own agenda on what changes are implemented, and if this one has not been implemented after hundreds of requests over 7 years, then something is very, very wrong with Wrike's internal management and customer experience/satisfaction team.  Don't forget this is only on this community, I guarantee there are many, many more that don't use the community but have emailed etc.

Really poor show, Wrike.

Hello Ray Davies, I understand your disappointment about this news, especially since this is a very popular suggestion that has been active for several years.

However, please allow me to reiterate that your feedback is indeed crucial to us. We can list several cases where highly requested ideas were implemented after some time — even longer than we'd like. Perhaps the most significant example to illustrate this is the option to convert tasks to projects and vice versa.

Of course, this example is not the only one, and it does not guarantee that every suggestion shared in our forum will be implemented after a specific period of time. We understand this can be frustrating; however, please rest assured that all your feedback is being passed to our relevant team, and we constantly ask for updates regarding the most popular ideas.

Please continue sharing your comments, insights, and feedback with us as it helps us in creating a better platform for all of you.

And, as usual, if there's anything else we can do to help, please let us know.

Juan,

With all due respect, if our feedback was truly crucial to Wrike, the third most upvoted feature request ever would not be on the backburner after 7 years and hundreds of votes.

Actions speak louder than words. This decision erodes trust in Wrike's commitment to its users.
