[Status: Launched! ๐] Sort Comments by Newest at the top
Can we have the newest comments on projects and tasks be at the top of the list of comments? This allows me to see at a glance the latest comment instead of having to scroll to the bottom of the list.
Thanks.
My international team doesn't use @Mentions. They simply respond to the last person โ or worse, just write the name without @.ย
I use the @Mention as a model of good-use behavior.
That said, I go to each task to see the comments. I rarely use the jump-link functionality of the inbox. Most of the time the inbox is a nuisance to my workflow.ย
A very important feature that should be added. Thank you!
This would be really useful and convenient.ย
Stephaine: ย Although the @Mentions are great if you are someone part of the task, as a manager I don't always get mentioned. ย I like to go and look at projects my team is working on and read the most recent comments and status updates, if/when a status was updated. i have created a custom work flow with a REVIEW status so a designer can click a project to review for someone else to proof. ย i like to see when it was clicked over, how long it has been in review and so forth. ย having all of this information show up with the most recent activity first would be VERY helpful. ย It would be nice if it was an option that users can CHOOSE to reverse, and not make it mandatory. ย That way your clients that prefer oldest to newest are not affected, and clients who want newest to oldest have the choice.
@Jeremy @Brett Both of those examples help and I understand each case. Brett I'm glad to here you're using Custom Statuses, those can be extremely helpful.ย
@Rebecaa @Paul thanks for the additional feedback here!
Stephanie and Anna:
I appreciate your response to this thread and a desire to understand it more. A couple of thoughts to add:
1) Per Anna's comment about other examples, I would have you look at text messages on yourย phone. While new texts are added to the bottom of a thread, messaging applications all open theย view of aย thread starting at the bottomย where the newest messages are.Imagine how annoying it would be if these apps opened threads at the start and you had to scroll through all of your preceding texts before you got to your latest one. Sadly, that is exactly how Wrike's comments currently work!
2) There appears to beย a lot of users voicing support for this change. It is also a change that feels pretty minor in terms of effort and impact, especially if you allow users to select whether they want newest comments on the top or to stick with the current sorting. I would hope that the amount of interest here is sufficient to spur action in updating Wrike--I have seen a lot of changes that required significantly greater development effort and had lesser impact than this roll out over the past year.
Thanks! ย
Hi Scott, thank you for adding your thoughts here. I appreciate both examples. In the first case, the functionality does work the way you describe when you click on a notification from Inbox (it scrolls to the bottom of the task) but I understand that not everyone checks their notifications from Inbox.
There is definitely a lot of great conversation here and we're making sure to show it to our Product team.ย
this would be a great feature that should be user configurable (as an option).ย The productivity gains from not having to always scroll down to the bottom of the page for current information is critical .ย I have a number of users whose lives would be enriched if this was a option.ย Yes, please move forward with this feature
I'm a definite yes, I need this option as it seems more logical to me, most up to date comment at the top.
Yes. And in addition I would really like the option to move the whole coents section on top of the task details. Especially with tasks with longer description it is a lot of scrolling that needs to be done.
Hiย everyone! We have started a dedicated thread to learn more about your experience with Wrike in situations that require real time collaboration - our Product manager for Collaboration experience in Wrike is eager to dive into this topic. We will be glad to see your commentsย hereย and it would be precious if you took a moment to go through a quickย surveyย to share more detailed feedback! Thank you in advance!
This is must! ย Having to scroll down to the bottom of the page is so inefficient and time consuming. Most conventional filing systems work from oldest to newest.ย ย Imagine if we had to scroll through our emails in the same way??
Imperative this is introduced to ensure people are aware they are downloading latest version and that someone else hasn't got there before them.ย Then latest comment, showing on same page as versions, would be - DON'T DO ANYTHING AS I AM WORKING ON THE LATEST VERSION!!
I was about to write a really long really detailed "feature request" post and then I found this thread.ย
Everyone in here is right - this feature should be a MUST.ย
Imagine I'm managing 25 different folders, inside those 25 folders I have 10 projects (one team per team), each project has 10 tasks.
Imagine it takes me 3 seconds toย scroll down on each task to find the latest comment and 2 seconds to read the new comment.ย
Imagine that I have given precise instructions to my whole team to engage with the platform so they add lots of comments.
Letยดs say thatย on a daily basis 30% of my team post between 2 and 5 new comments.
Anyone good with maths?
How many minutes/hours wouldย I be wasting scrolling down to find the latest comments? How many other comments could I have read in the same amount of time if they were right at the beginning of the conversation (so scrolling time = 0 )?
Cheers
My entire marketing team would like to be able to view task/project comments in chronological order with the most current notes/messages first. this would enable them to work more efficiently and not have to scroll throughย a long list of messages to find current activity.ย besides it give them better visibility to current activity
Oldest first makes it super hard to use on high activity tasks. This needs to get updated!
Yes, Reverse the order of comments please!!!!
ย
This really is a must for us!ย Having to scroll all the way through the activities seems a little odd when so many news feed features put the latest updates at the top. This is usually the most important and relevant information to the user at that time. As the history is saved, if they need to refer back to older updates they can but I would say 95% of my team's work is related to the latest update.ย
Is there an update from Wrike on when this may be put in place please? This feed has been going for quite some time and it seems it would be very useful to the community.ย ย
Furthermore, it seems that attachments can be sorted by date but not the comments... Generally there are a lot more comments than attachments for my tasks so this would be a useful feature.ย
Not having comments ordered by Descending date drives me crazy.ย I understand that this isn't an issue those who have a minimal amount of comments on tasks.
Having a high-activity task where the description can be amended means having to constantly scroll from top to bottom to understand which part of the task the comments relate to.
With a high volume of tasks not only does this eat up time but is frustrating and adds to potential RSI.
Also, when a new comment relates to a newly attached document or documents, the amount of scrolling back and forth makes me want to drop Wrike and use email again.
This is a significant barrier to use.
I despair of finally seeing this request realized !!!
Gary and Badertscher,
I totally AGREE. This is becoming a huge frustration to deal with and a waste of time.
So wish WRIKE would take action soon on this item and adding formatting capabilities to the comments.
Can we get an update from the Wrike folks on this... last thing I can see is they went to talk toย Product team in June and then they asked for a collaboration survey in July. What's the status on getting this change made?ย
Hiย everyone, currently this is not on our Product Team's short-term roadmap, but the teamย isย aware of the feedback here and all new comments and use cases really help with the internal discussions so thank you for continuing to bump the post. As soon as I have any new information I'll update you all here.
@Stephen Orowe, really? That is a real shame. This is an easy fix and SUPER inconvenient. We almost scrapped wrike because of it.ย
@Stephen Orowe A couple of questions . . .
Is it on _any_ roadmap?
What's the implementation time-range for items on the 'Short-term' road map?
Given some of the previous less-impactful changes implemented, I'm surprised this hasn't even registered with the development team, as it's a frustration to my users AND my clients.
I'm now facing the issue of having to paste clients' emails into Wrike, so you can imagine how happy I am.
PLEAE PLEASE Make This Happen!
I am a new user and preparing to onboard our team. This is a MUST HAVE for many of us.
- What is important to me is what just happened, not what happened weeks ago and is no longer relevant, or much less relevant that the most recent comments.
- I do not have time to scroll to the bottom of a list of Comments when I select a task.
- We tested Quire and they added this functionality in 2 weeks from us asking... We are working in "Internet Time" right?
ย
Thank you!
Thanks everyone who posted comments here! From my understanding, the main issue you are having that you spend much time on scrolling to the latest comments. Would having a buttonย to scroll the task to the bottom of comments stream solve this issue? This button could also have aย different colour depending on whether theย task has comments you havenโt read. Once again, I really appreciate everyoneโs input, and while I still canโt share any ETA I can assure you that this topic is regularly brought up in conversations with the Product team.

@ Anna G
This would be an improvement but certainly would not solve the issue in my opinion. It just seems backwards to have a news feed structured this way. I'm no techy but this also sounds like more complex functionality than just switching the order of the feed...?ย
It would beย good to see 'Unread' comments but the priority for me HAS to be the order of the feed!ย ย
Hi @Anna G
That wouldn't solve the problem at all.
With a long list of comments, and a repeatedly updated Description with documents being added and updated, it means having to refer between the latest comment [at the bottom] and the description and/or added documents.ย It's a constant switching between the two.
If you want to consider a workaround, you could include a button at the top, near the documents or description, which collapses all comments apart from the unread ones.ย This would allow reviewing of the description whilst being able to refer to the latest comments.
This isn't a great workaround as even with this, the issue would recur when multiple new comments are added in rapid succession.
I'm struggling with Wrike because of this and makes it impossible to recommend it.
