Multi-Task Forms

Need the ability to create multiple tasks from a single form. ie: New employee form. A single form kicks off tasks for HR, IT, department manager, etc.

Currently, we use JotForms and Zapier to achieve this, but would prefer to have this integrated directly. The current forms work for simple requests (Help tickets, hardware loans, etc.), but do not help with enforcing a process.

Hi @Matt, thanks for sharing details around how this would work for your team.

We also desperately need the forms to be able to create a task with our specified subtasks. Each request always needs the 4 follow-on subtasks.

We would really appreciate the ability to have that automatically created as part of the task.  Now, i have to copy the contents of the submitted form to a duplicated task that has the necessary subtasks.

It's tedious.  Is there a better way?

Hi Susan, thanks for commenting here! I'd love to hear a bit more about your use case here. Depending on the type of work being done, it might be beneficial to create Projects from Templates with the help of Request Forms, where the Project would replace the task you have right now, and tasks would replace subtasks. These tasks could also be converted to subtasks if needed. Would this work for your use case? Happy to learn more about your workflow!

I may be misunderstanding, but projects don't allow grouping, right?  there's no way to group all projects in a folder?  Right now, we use our task for an individual customer evaluation or software bug report.  each task of a certain types has certain subtasks, which are performed by different people on the team.  We have hundreds of customers and many hundreds of bugs. We use custom status created using flags to simply and easily see where the task sits (e.g., awaiting build; awaiting images)  it looks like projects have specified and limited statuses to choose from?

How do i duplicate a project?  looks like it's exactly the same as a task.  I'm not sure how this would help.  What am I missing?

Even if i were to do that, how could I have the form create the (predefined) tasks for that project?

Hi Susan, thanks for following up and sorry about my delayed reply! Thank you for describing your use case, it does make sense to work from tasks when working on hundreds of bugs, especially when using Custom Statuses for tracking (that's a great workflow). In this sense, I definitely agree with the suggestion to have task/subtask structures created from Request Forms. Thank you for taking the time to share this idea!

In regards to your last question, it's possible to trigger the creation of Projects based on templates when a Request Form is submitted. Just create a template Project with all required tasks, and then choose the option to create a Project from a template in the Request Form builder:
