[Status: Launched! ๐] Calendar view of task assignments
I'd like to be able to view all projects and all team members assigned to tasks with a timeline in a calendar view that could be filtered by person or project as needed. It would help with assignment of resources to new projects as they arise and will help estimate timelines for completion if all team members are booked solid.
This is going to hold us back from implementing at this point. Bummer. I'll follow this thread, but without this we'll probably stick with Asana. We'd be willing to Beta test as well.
Hi Anthony, this is something our Product Team is discussing internally and the feedback, use cases and votes on this thread are adding a lot of value to those conversations so thanks to you and everyone who contributed here.
Currently, I have nothing concrete to share. If and when that changes I'll be posting to this thread so please keep following for updates ๐
Ok, So in order to sell this to my boss, because I feel it's more robust than Asana by far, how do I illustrate if a task request does not fit into the timeline of things we need to do? Our biggest issue right now is planning, and seeing it in 1,3,6 month chunks so we can plan where things fit in is essential. Thoughts?
Hey Anthony - I'm a current Wrike user. We definitely find it helps us keep projects on track but the lack of calendar view is a big disappointment. There's no good way in Wrike to see if you have a period with openings for work and periods where you're overloaded. I'd say if your boss must see things like that - if a task request fits into your current timeline or if not, what needs to move in order to fit it in - you won't be getting that from Wrike.
Still hoping the Wrike calendar functions get developed in 2018!
Vicky,
Have you tried the workload view? It basically is a calendar in the gantt (landscape) view. You can filter by person or group (if you set them up) and see holes in people's schedules to see who can be open for a task.
You can see in the workload view attached that Gery has multiple projects during the same time and it is shown with an orange highlight. You or your boss could then decide whether or not to give him another task. You can see myself has many projects but they are occurring in series so I am not overloaded. Does this help?
IMO, a calendar view is inferior to the gantt view. But I know some people like a calendar view. Maybe it is good for what's coming in a week, but the gantt view will show weeks, months, and even years.
Thanks Vicki, appreciate the feedback and time
Can this view be across all projects in a "global" kind of way? This is getting me closer to making sure we can see what all of our staff is doing concurrently
Thanks Kevin. I've tried the Gantt view but we have so many overlapping projects and so many individuals on our Wrike that it just looks really busy. It does help illustrate who's overloaded but it's not great at giving us an actual marketing calendar - i.e. which blog is going out when, which campaign starts when etc.
Yeah, the marketing calendar is essential for us. I am so stuck with what to do, our org didn't take well to Asana either. My wonder is if they will implement this feature since literally everyone is clamouring for it. Our timelines are crucial in a retail B2B and B2C environments. The entire purpose for us is timelines and calendars we can implement so we can also move backwards from a release date for launches etc ..... The Gant view from what I am seeing so far is not very visually appealing or user friendly.
We'd love to bring our editorial calendar to Wrike but are missing the traditional calendar view. As others mentioned it already the Gantt can be a bit overwhelming.
A calendar view plus a marketing calendar events is something that would really benefit our company as well! Add one more vote to the tally please!
@Paula thanks for commenting here! If you haven't already, can you make sure to +1 the original post here, that'll help us out a lot.

PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN. We are a MS Outlook shop and we also find the export iCal function to not integrate, is rigid, etc. I'm a PM by trade and love to work with gantts but the creative team is really struggling to make this work for them.
New to Wrike, so far we love it, but we create & launch TV shows, so we also need some kind of calendar view with drag and drop functionality.
We'd love to be able to view our past, current and upcoming social, editorial and video posts.
The workload view is great for delegating work to different team members, but a calendar view would help make sure everything is published at strategic dates leading up to a big premiere date etc.
We also don't want to over post certain days, but instead, balance out our content roll-out on our different social platforms.
Thanks,
Cesar
Christine (and others), I totally agree...I was asked to vote here, as I started a suggestion elsewhere, which is copied below. Let's do this, because I've used software (as stated below) that includes an internal calendar that lets you choose which project related tasks you want to see (separately, or combined), and proves incredibly helpful to stay all in one place...Wrike.
Thanks!
Ross
INSERT:
Our team would greatly appreciate it if Wrike would consider adding in a "calendar" feature into Wrike for users and collaborators.
www.Strikebase.com is a great example of a project management tool that includes such a calendar, with great functionality, which is great! We are an advertising and marketing agency and seeing tasks/projects listed out in a calendar view, is more natural for most of our team.

Another user requesting calendar view. Why you ask?
Well, I'm attempting to make marketing activities more transparent to our field sales team and our company executives. At the moment I use the wrike features which allows me to copy a deliverable date to a marketing calendar I've created in Google. So, that is a start.....but being in Marketing, I am visual person and want an overview of major activities in a calendar view. if I could do that I would spend more time within Wrike rather than jumping around to other apps and programs. Please, please, please...
Exporting a project to iCal and other calendars basically works instead of an internal calendar (which would be better)...
BUT...it is unusable because the entire project name gets exported at the beginning of the task name. So as an architect we've got this on our calendar:
[Smith Residence] Contractor meeting
[Smith Residence] Confirm zoning code
[Smith Residence] Schematic design
Having half of our visual space on the calendar taken up with [Smith Residence] is a mess and unusable.
This doesn't happen with Google calendars (which my office doesn't use), so there's just a coding error for the export that Wrike should be able to take care of pretty easily. Please do so - thanks!
@Erick Mikiten I am also having the same problem. We have a very cumbersome work around which is that the calendar entries Wrike creates seems to put the folders first and then the tasks in order using the https://ascii.cl/ order of characters. So currently we are putting all our tasks that need to be in the calendar in a separate sub folder in the project with a '.' in front of the name we want to show in the calendar. I hope that makes sense! Might be a temp work around for you?
Its a huge pain, and like you suggested it should be something that wrike could just change the order that things displayed in the calendar event.
Very surprising that a basic feature like this isn't available. PLEASE make this ASAP!
Hi, we would like to have a development for this feature.
I believe this is very basic function to have in such complex tool and also i feel this is similar to what people have been asking above.
Is there any chance you can commit on this development? We would like to have time expectations and also a possible discussion on what you will be developing. This i think will be the best way to know whether or not this tool can be spread in our company by next financial year.
Look forward to hearing from you and please get in touch via email as well
Hi all, all I can confirm is that the team is discussing the possibility of a view like this. It's way too early to have any information to share, but we have made the team aware of this post to add value during the discussions so please share use cases, examples, and vote on the original post.
If and when I have more information I'll be sure to share here ๐
I'll add my voice to the choir , the lack of this feature is the single biggest hurdle we are experiencing with Wrike after a year of using it. My team are constantly clamouring for me to find a work around.
We have tried the Google calendar integration, but tasks need to be moved manually one by one in Google Calendar, the ability to schedule tasks to a certain time (such as meetings) and have the viewable in a calendar from in wrike would be invaluable to us.
A stop gap solution would be to enable users to zoom in a lot more on the workflow, where users could view an entire day or two up close ( i.e. most of the screen) and get a better understanding of what they need to to for the day. obviously this wont solve solutions like scheduling
Adding my request to the bunch. I really want to use Wrike for my large enterprise projects, but these few limitations cause me to lean back towards using MS Project with SharePoint.
@Everyone I have a slightly more tangible update for you here ๐ค The team is working really hard to bring you guys a calendar soon (yes, I actually mean soon). I know you will all want an exact date and as much as I would love to give you one, I can't. Here's what I can tell you: the feature is planned to go to Labs first and I should have an update for you in the coming weeks - not necessarily this week or next, but soon.
In the meantime, I leave you with some wise words from Europe.
