Feature Request: Add a "Convert to Milestone" action in the automation flow constructor
๐ By automating milestone creations, we could create a custom task type "Milestone", which gets converted to an actual "Wrike milestone" once created. The creator would only need to add a date afterwards (could be pre-populated with the date of today if necessary).
๐ก I'm thinking about the automation constructor, but of course, alternatives are possible, like checking a box directly during the creation of a custom item.
๐ค Why is a custom Item type "Milestone" handy?
- It is more visual in a List due to the custom icon;
- You can directly attach a custom workflow specifically for milestones to it;
- For new users it might be more intuitive to create a new "milestone" task instead of first creating a task and then converting it to a milestone;
- You can specify which task types you want to have linked to your milestone, which helps in translating project processes of the company into Wrike.
๐ข Without auto-conversion, there is the disadvantage that you have 2 "milestone" types in the account and where only one is actually recognized by the backend of Wrike. Since we, for example, have no "OR" relationships in filters, we cannot combine the custom milestones with the Wrike milestones in one report or dashboard widget.

Agreed Sammy, I would like a feature like this as well. Or in the section where you set up a new custom item type, turning on a switch to always make this certain item type as a "Milestone" would be nice.
I created a custom item type for "Meetings" and will add my notes into the description, and for me it makes the most sense for this item to always be a milestone instead of not. I have a few more custom items that make the most sense as milestones, as I am sure others do too.
Hi Colleen Schmidt, we appreciate your support for this idea! At present, we don't have any updates, but rest assured, we'll share any news here if we have updates in the future. Please upvote Sammy's post if you haven't already, votes do help our team see how popular an idea is ๐
