Custom Task Item - Billing Type

I have created a number of custom data types.  I am surprised that you cannot display the billing status for the task item and reset it from the default.  Time consuming for the user to fill out the panel and then have to exit it to then go find the field in table view to change the status.  All the task fields are available when using the normal task view (information) but not in the custom task view (information).  Secondly, the default billing status for a task created using custom task from the subitem drop down for a project does not match the billing status for the project.  If I add as a subitem a task using the normal task option in the add subitem I get a billing status that matches the billing status for the project, however, if I use one of the many custom tasks that I have created from the add subitem the status is non-billable.  Thoughts?
