Fix "N/A" and "No Results" in Advanced Reporting (Wrike Analyze)

Situation

In Wrike Analyze, widgets may sometimes return "N/A" values or appear completely blank. This typically means that no data matches all the filters and formulas applied within the widget. However, there are instances where the filters seem correct, yet the expected data is not displayed. Common reasons for this include renaming objects in Wrike (for example, a project) and choosing the wrong data table in the report.

Important

This article only covers "N/A" values and empty widgets (not errors). If your report returns errors, the article How to Fix Errors in Advanced Reporting (Wrike Analyze) may help to resolve them.

Troubleshooting

To resolve the issue of "N/A" values or blank widgets in Wrike Analyze, please check the following steps:

  • Identify the filter or dimension that removes all the data:
    • In the widget settings, disable each filter one by one to check if any data appears. Start with dashboard filters.
    • If data appears after disabling a specific filter, re-enable the others one by one to ensure they do not affect the output.
    • If disabling filters does not resolve the issue, repeat the steps for the dimensions under Rows/Categories.

There are three common issues leading to "N/A" values. Click the boxes below to find out how to quickly identify these issues, troubleshoot and fix them.

Custom Fields

Possible Cause

Custom fields are stored in two sets of data tables: "Task" and "Folder/Project". Choosing the incorrect table can result in no data being displayed or unexpected results.

Important

These types of errors are specific for columnar/dimensional custom fields. You can read more about their usage in the Community post Customize and Analyze: Crack the case with columnar fields.

Possible Solutions

  • Identify the data table:
    • Custom fields are stored in "Task" and "Folder/Project" data tables. With standard data tables, the difference is more obvious (e.g., Task Custom Field Name vs. Folder/Project Custom Field Name). Columnar data tables store each custom field as a separate column, making the name appear identical regardless of the source table.
    • Check the data table source. To do so, hover over the dimension to see its location:
    • Verify whether the custom field is populated in tasks or folders/projects.
  •  Delete and replace the incorrect dimension:
    • If the custom field is populated in tasks but the dimension from the "Folder/Project Custom Field (Columns)" is used, delete the incorrect dimension from the report.
    • Re-add the correct dimension from the correct data table (e.g., Task Custom Field) to the report.

Renamed Items

Possible Cause

When an item is renamed in Wrike, the title is updated in the analytics databases with each new data export. However, while the data export refreshes the database, it does not modify the existing reports themselves. If a renamed item is already being used as a filter, the "ghost" of its outdated name remains in the filter settings. Consequently, the query searches for the old name in the updated database, yielding no results.

This issue is most commonly encountered with the "Include Data From" filter, which is prevalent in many reports and affects the entire dataset. If the space used as a filter has been renamed, deleted, or unshared from the viewer, the report will display no data.

Possible Solution

  • If a filter based on an item returns no result, verify the item’s existence in the data browser. To do this, search for the item using the exact same spelling:
  • If the data browser returns no results, the item is not found in the database:
    • Verify if the item still exists and is shared with you.
    • Check the spelling: the item may have been renamed. To confirm, copy the item's name (e.g., a folder) and paste it into the data browser's search bar.
    • If copy-pasting works, the item has been renamed, which could include minor changes like capitalization adjustments.
  • If the item was renamed, update the filter accordingly:
    • Select the top box to include all items. The filtered prompt at the bottom should state "Include all."
    • Unselect all items by clicking the box again, then specifically select the box next to the renamed item's name.
    • Repeat these steps for all other items if the data still appears incomplete.

Incompatible Data Tables

When working with Wrike Analyze, it's important to ensure that the data tables used in filters or widget settings are compatible. Some data tables, such as "Project" and "Folder," do not interact as expected. If project-related and folder-related attributes are used together, the widget may return no results. To resolve this issue, use the "Include Data From" filter for the parent item to display parental relationships. For example, to show a parent-child relationship between a project and a folder, ensure the filter is set up for the parent item.
