Exporting List of Custom Fields

I would like to recommend that the application allow owners to download an excel file of all custom fields in the account.  While the current view allows you manage the fields it does not really allow you to "work" in the list and look for similarities in fields or consider better naming conventions.

Hi Denise Mauzy, thank you for reaching out and posting your feedback!

There's a new feature that was just released by our team - custom field management. It allows the account owners and admins to manage all custom fields in the account from the Account Management. Could that be helpful in your case? You can learn more about this functionality on the Help Center🙂

Hi Lisa,

I am aware of the new feature and it has alot of use cases for sure. However, it is still helpful to be able to download the entire file and sort and take notes.

I whole-heartedly agree. I just started trying to trim down the number of custom fields in our workspace, but I'll have to get with the people who made and use the fields to check if they're still needed, so I'd like to export the table into Excel to re-order things and add my own notes.

Another thing I'd like to see on the management screen is which folders include the field. I think I could get to that information through the audit log as well, but it would take some doing and would be much more helpful to have immediately with the full list of fields.

I agree with Joshua Balentine.  The folders that include the field would be very helpful.

I agree with Joshua & Denise. I'm going through a full audit of our account it would be useful to have the ability to export to excel and see where the fields are being used.

Hi Lisa
Yes, I'm using the custom field management panel. It's great for reviewing a few fields at once, but when running an inventory, for example, you need to cut & paste from the panel to excel to review and comment before taking action. Also, it's great that you can see where the fields are enable (through the 'Remove from..' which should have an undo option), but you still need to filter a view to see where the field is being used on actual tasks, folders or projects.

Echoing the usefulness here! Trying to inventory all the custom fields to see which ones I want to shared with teams in other spaces (account level) versus which would be just for my team. Need them all in a sheet to confirm who needs what, but have to manually create that sheet with no export feature.

Another upvote.  I needed to send the list back to my Wrike support for help with the Analyze tool.  To get the list, I had to do some extra goofy workaround steps (export to PDF, copy to Word, copy to Excel) to even copy the grid out - straight copy/paste would not work.  This seems like a super easy function to export grid and would be a quick win!

I discovered a workaround to export the custom fields data into an Excel spreadsheet, but you need Adobe Acrobat Pro to do it.  I took a screen shot of the "Custom Fields" grid and created a new PDF from the clipboard.  Then I ran Scan & OCR to recognize the text.  Once the text was recognized, I exported to an XLS spreadsheet. Hope this trick can help someone else!

Lori Bernard inspired me for a workaround.  You can use the new camera features on an iPhone to copy text in to a file.  Just hold up the camera to the text, click the little icon and select copy.  Worked very well for me.

Hi! Following up on any further work on a way for exporting all the values for each Custom Field at once?

We are doing a spring clean up and it would be so valuable to be able to export all the values and identify any duplicate or similar values and make notes. We have 36 Custom Fields, and to manually copy and paste all the values from each one is really time consuming.

Unfortunately, some of the value fields requiring scrolling to see all the options so screenshots into PDF is not an option for our account.

Hello Emily Black, welcome to the Community! You can export the Space, project or folder where the custom fields are applied to and all its values should be reflected in the Excel file. Would this be an option for you?

I'd also like to mention that is possible to generate an Excel file containing all created, modified, deleted, restored, added or removed to a folder Custom Fields with Activity Reports.

Alternatively, our Support Team can help generate a report containing:
  • The names of all Custom Fields on the account.
  • Their type.
  • For every Custom Field: Name of the author and folders & projects which have this field enabled.
In case assistance is needed in this regard, please feel free to open a ticket with our Support Team and an agent will reach out to you soon.

Thank you!

Upvotd this as well.  In addition to many CFs in our Space, we have certain CFs (single/multi-selects) with literally dozens of options.  To boot, many of these options are looong (i.e. many characters), and there is no way to list these options out and view them in their entirety - they get cut off from the view.  So being able to not only export all CFs, but also their options (if ss or ms types) is invaluable.  Would this be something that Wrike Integrate would support?  Thanks.
