Yes please!
This is something similar I would have assumed it default in wrike.
Task 1
Task 2 (is a dependency of task 1)
Once task 1 is marked as complete, task 2 should automatically be moved from a "pending" position to an "in progress" position and then notify the person responbile for that task.
Without this automation, I fail to see the point of the dependencies - as we still have to manually tell people that they need to start their part.
Hi Jake,
You might be able to do something close if you use dependencies and timing. With the odd structure I work in, we can't have the dependencies/timing since our 'due dates' are constantly changing and we also have proofing steps that act as a partial completion as well.
Ours is more dependent on a workflow status structure vs dependancies hence why I would like the workflows to ding/zap/poke others that they need to assist on completing projects. Working to get our team out of the dark/babysitting ages that they have been so used to if that makes any sense.
@Elizabeth Loved that last comment 😂 Have you had a chance to check out fixed and flexible workflows? It's a Labs feature, and it works well if the same people are responsible for a task when it's in a specific status. Essentially, you designate who should be assigned to what status and then when a task is switched to that status, they're automatically assigned to the task.
@Jake Hi! Your team should be getting an @mention notifications if they're assigned to a task in a dependency chain and the predecessor task is completed. I can see how the automation you're mentioning would be so useful as well though.
Stephanie -
You and the team rock! Jumping on a call later today w/ our rep to talk through the fixed/flexible workflows.. hoping this might get the team from dark ages to the late middle age - possibly getting ready to dip their toes into the Early Modern period of Modern History!!!!
@jake good stuff in the links that were provided!
@Elizabeth Well, I think you rock too and I'm so glad those helped! Tell them that jumping straight into the deep end is easier 😉.
@Stephanie is there any chance we can close this feedback thread or mark it as completed? Seems like its been addressed with the auto-assign feature in the statuses now?
@Soraya Hi, I'm jumping in for Stephanie. Thanks for noticing this, I'm going to close this thread for comments now as Elizabeth's suggestion is resolved 🙂
