Workload / Resource Conflict Triggering
Hi all, is there a way to trigger the resources conflict while we are assigning him/her for a specific task?
Say, Miss A already assigned for other task earlier from June-10 to June-14. System will show warning error that Miss A already booked for other task on the same period from June-10 to June-14
Hi, the only way that I know is to reactively check the workload planner after each resourcing session - any over-commitment will show as red in the workload calendar. This is driven by setting each user's working hours in the settings.
It would be great to be able to get a real-time warning when assigning tasks though!

Thanks Phil for the feedback. I didn't realise until Basudha's reply prompted an email.
I'm using workload right now and it is rather unproductive to check 1-1, manually.
Hi Basudha, I've checked our licensing. It has Enterprise Pinnacle base plan. I saw a pop up tip: Show if someone is unavailable when I try to assign an assignee. I've enabled Basic efforts mode on my profile. I added 2 tasks for myself so that they are conflicting with each other.
However, I didn't see unavailable label when I try to assign myself as assignee for the 2nd task.
Hi Basudha Sakshyarika thanks for the tip! I've implemented this and can now see the recommendations when assigning someone to a task. I wasn't seeing the "unavailable" tag but then I spotted the three dots and it's now working! Thanks so much for this.
Just a tip for anyone else who stumbles across this thread in the future.
We make heavy use of custom item types to aid in both reporting and to expose the required custom fields that each item type needs. I have gone through each of our custom item types (there were loads!) and have defined an automation that waits for a new item to be created and then assigns the user custom field according to whichever of our user teams will be working on the task type. That way, when a new custom item is deployed, it will already be assigned to the correct user team ready for resourcing!
This is going to be a game changer for us!
Hi Phil, could you share more details on setting you have changed to enable the "unavailable" feature while assigning a DRI within specific time frame?
Hi Peter Chin Ting Soon, sorry I wasn't notified of a reply to my comment! I seem to have jumped the gun. It was working but now I don't get the "unavailable" tag when trying to assign someone to a task who has no availability for that day. I don't know what changed...
Hi Peter Chin Ting Soon I think I've just worked it out. Are you using the Flexible effort mode by any chance? We use it for most of our tasks to allow our people to fine tune their own workload.
The "unavailable" tag doesn't appear if the task is set to use the Flexible effort mode. This kind-of makes sense as the system won't know how much time is going to be allocated to the user at the time the user is selected. Unfortunately I think this means that this feature isn't going to work for us as we mainly use the Flexible item type.
Basudha Sakshyarika am I correct in my thinking?
