[Status: Launched! ๐Ÿš€] Dependencies in Table View

It would be super helpful to be able to see the dependencies in the table view. ย The data is in the system, so why not consider adding it to the table view?

Hi Megan, I know this is important functionality for your team and I spoke with Mike, your Account Executive, to make sure he's aware this is important to your team and so that you two could talk through potential options together. In terms of implementing your request, sadly we can't implement everything, but I'm working on checking with a Project Manager to see if this is on our roadmap.ย

Having the ability in change and view task dependencies in the table view would allow my team to manage all their projects in Wrike.

Surely you all did some benchmarking of other Project Management software
while building Wrike....
Did you notice that every other such tool, like MS Project & SmartSheet ย have this (very basic) functionality?
They have it because it's necessary (not a 'nice to have').

I'm a new (paying) user and now having a very hard time taking Wrike seriously
since I've noticed this (and the default sort on the Table View not
being date based!).

Hi guys, for us this function could allow manage our projects with wrike, i am usomg the trial version but not considering migrate company to use wrike, we understand this change will make the planning process more agile (we are considering ms project 365 or other that have this)

Dependencies in table is a huge missing bit of functionality.ย  It's a big complaint among with my engineers more familiar with Microsoft Project.

Yes adding my views on this subject. ย It is really inconvenient that you can only set dependencies in the timeline view. ย It is actually quite fiddly to do. ย This is basic project management functionality for software that does Gantt charts. ย Frustrating.

New user and totally agree with the above comments - very fiddly and time consuming only to be able to build dependencies in the timeline view

Can you guys please offer at least read only dependency in Table View to start? ย Our PMs have been using MS Project and this one feature seems to be the last hurdle in getting them to accept Wrike. ย

So excited to share the first step in Timeline and dependency improvements, which is theย New Timeline View, you can enable it inย Wrike Labs.ย This view includes a table on the left side of the Timeline, where you can find a column with an indication of dependencies.ย I know this thread is about bringing this to the Table View, but I'm eager to hear your feedback about this addition nonetheless. Nice work. ย A few comments:

- Add theย the ability to show task duration (and really all other columns available on Table view). ย 

- With these changesย there is almost complete overlap of Table and Timeline. ย Is the intention to eliminate the Table view in favor of the combined version?

- Two finger drag on a the timeline (using a Mac trackpad) frequently "locks" and initiates a "page back" function.

- Create a button to toggle the table half between viewed and hidden

- Tasks with subtasks should still be identified with a "+" to indicate subtasks. ย  The task should be available to expand via bar in the timelineย section.

- Even though dependencies are included on the table format, there still should be the ability to drag dependencies within the timeline half

- Include the range adjustment bar currently in Timeline

- Include the horizontal adjustment bar currently in Timeline

This is already SO MUCH BETTER than the old feature-set.

First hitch:

I am, however, confused: how is it sorting? how can I control it? I'm not sure what "cascade sorting" means, but I would have expected that clicking on it would sort such that tasks cascade into a visually-meaningful order based on their dates - but I'm not having that experience!

I'm finding dates are only used if there are also dependencies - which will commonly be the case, but not always.

Suggest that developers consider sorting of non-linked tasks based on their date (and indent level/sub-task relationship, too, of course)

And an addition to the Help page describing the Sorting logic & mechanisms would really help.

I concur with Brad, too, especially about Duration as a column, but I assume those refinements are 'coming soon' as the release details suggest.

Hello and Happy 2018 to all. I noticed that this chain started a year ago, and that a simple function of being able to view dependencies on table view doesn't yet exist. ย  I agree with all of the above, having to move between table and timeline view isn't particularly convenient.

I noticed that there are now 38 votes to this function.

Our Product Team continue discussions about dependency enhancementsย across the entire Workspace and the votes and use cases posted here help with these internal discussions so thank you for contributing.

I totally agree with Tess.ย ย ย  It's a function that exists and therefore should be an easy fix? ย  We need to keep switching between the two tables as we don't use the Gantt chart - just the Gantt table view.
