Enable filtering Analytics charts by custom fields
Sometimes looking at Analytics charts for a folder is not good enough, we'd like to slice and dice with custom fields as well.
Use case: we use custom fields to categorize tasks (business area (B2B, B2C...), type of task (maintainance, dev...), ...). Since we need to look at different combinations, doing that with folders would mean a lot of folders (cartesian product), plus we'd have problems with filtering (see http://vote.wrike.com/forums/125507-general/suggestions/2201383-add-the-ability-to-filter-tasks-by-multiple-folder and https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115000116509-Filter-Tasks-being-in-multiple-Folders-having-specified-Tags), making dashboards etc. So we opted for custom fields. But - we can't slice Analytics charts using these fields.
Blaž, welcome to the Community and thank you for posting this idea! While we're not working on the Analytics view at the moment, our Product Team plans on exploring ways to enhance the Reporting and Analytics functionality as a whole, and this is definitely an interesting idea.
Agreed - we have custom fields we want to use for charts but cannot. For example, we tag projects by department using a custom departmental field, but we can't then go and see how many projects are going on by department.
There are several use cases that could all be solved by developing the analytics to function more like excel pivot charts.
Alexandria, that's very helpful, thank you for sharing your use case here! It's great to learn about how you use these views to better understand which functionality is important to the Wrike Community.
I agree with Alexandria- we need a more powerful way to gain actionable insights through analytics.
It would be especially helpful if you were able to filter data based on answers to the request form.
I'd like to echo the above comments but also add if filtering by custom STATUS could also be put in there. We have a number of Statuses within the "Active" status group that represent different stages in our software dev process. It would be brilliant to have those charts breakdown into statuses, not just status groups. I can create a Report to show different custom statuses but having the analytics do it as well would be perfect.
Yeah, I'd love to be able to create charts in analytics view based on a filter of either a User Group, Custom Field, Workflow or Workflow Status. We have several projects that are cross-departmental and so our department's folder ends up getting other department's data, which isn't necessarily valuable for us when trying to determine our department's health. This would allow us to at-a-glance see meaningful data without having to create a ton of individual reports. It's also nice to see things on a chart vs. a table view like a standard report.
Custom Groups sometimes is just not granular enough. Custom workflow should be implemented same as in reports. However, the progress or performance-chart would be perfect with using custom workflow status-items. Please please add this!
As Lauren, we would like to create charts in analytics view based on user group filter ... Do you have news for this feature ?
Francis
Hi all, our Product Team are discussing Reports enhancements to include information like this. It's early stages however so I have no solid dates to share. Once I have any further updates, we'll update you here.
Thank you for continuing to add use-cases and votes!
Reports need to be printable as PDF. Thats a must must. Although i like the sharing option, colleagues laugh at me when i tell them its not printable
Additionally, the analytics tool needs to be able to show the flow of a snapshot over time. Therefore we need to show the history of custom workflow status elements. Currently, analytics tool counts top level and subtasks and just picks default status fields to show over time.
Hey Stephen,
Has there been any update here? Looking at it, I cannot find any improvement in the Analytics features and it has been over a year! I hope I am wrong, because it would be awesome to see these features in the coming future.
@Levi Hey, thanks for bumping this thread. For now, there's no update, I'll get back here when I have one. For now, getting more votes and comments will really help our Product team assess the popularity of this suggestion.

Hello, I too am looking at how i can create another analytics chart layer based on custom fields, as this was one of the critical pieces needed by the business and why we signed up using Wrike. We were informed we could run a report or analytics based on customer fields but i'm having trouble do this. Not sure if i'm missing something or if this falls into the above thread??
Hi Carla tarfon, I can see that our Support team helped you with this. If you have any other questions, be sure to reach out 😊
In regards to the status of this suggestion - I don't have any update for you at the moment, but as soon as I do, I'll let you know.
Agree with this need. Creating analytic with custom field values is extremely important.
Also agree that this is a critical feature. Since the 'Completion date' field is not editable, created a custom field to indicate the actual completion date of the task only to find that I can not use this variable in analytics to create a chart ... ☹️
Hi Andrew Stewart, thank you for posting and sharing your feedback. I've passed it on to the team 👍🏼
Hi all,
I would also find this very useful.
Also if you want to be able to see custom workflows in your analytics (particularly relevant for the 'work progress' view in my case) you might want to take a look at this post:
https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360046753494-Change-the-Analytics-to-match-custom-status-workflow
Has there been any movement on this? Our organisation uses custom fields to indicate different types of projects, and I cannot see any way to use this in Analytics.
Hey Scott McKinley, I've asked our Support team to contact you about this, and I can see you discussed this with them 👍

Still looking to use Analytics using custom fields (not the default status that Wrike gives us). As you can see from the other thread this is something I asked for back in 2020.
Thanks. I was able to find what I needed through Charts. However, anyway we can change the colors in charts??
Hey Shannon Sullivan, I've asked our Support team to help you with this question 👍 They will contact you soon.
