Retain project and task status when duplicating a project

Hi all,

I want to duplicate a project as a snapshot (interim baseline) for my project.  This will allow me to refer back to earlier versions if I need to.  However, when I duplicate my project the task statuses are not retained, instead they revert to 'not started' status.  This is the case regardless of whether I am using the default workflow or a custom workflow.

Hoping you can help

Thanks

Chris

Hi Cansu,

Thank you for getting back to me.

Looking at the post you mention, I agree that the requested feature looks similar although the underlying use-case looks different. What I would like to do is create a snapshot or interim baseline.  The duplicated project would be a static record of that project at a particular point in time, and a back-up in case I need to revert to an older version.  I think Peter wants to create templates for new projects, retaining different status for different types of tasks.

Interim baselines are an important part of managing larger projects and Wrike appears to support that with the 'duplicate' feature.  The problem is that the software does not duplicate, it only partially duplicates, which makes this a bug given that the definition of 'duplicate' is to make an exact copy.

There are two reasons why I will not be 'upvoting' on this.

1.  In my view, it's a bug that needs to be fixed.

2. Given that the post you mention was written 4 years ago and has 25 replies, many of which support the request, I doubt that another upvote would make much of an impact.

Instead I will spend my time looking for alternative products which better support the needs of our company.

Best regards

Chris

I just 'duplicated' an in-flight project and again noticed that the task status is not preserved so the end result was not a duplicate.  Has there been any progress on fixing this bug?

Hi, I have the same use case in that I would like to duplicate a project for a backup at that point in time, but tasks that are "Completed" revert to "Not Started" in the duplicate copy.

This is not ideal, is there a solution or workaround for duplicating a project to create a backup, retaining ALL status's as they are.

Thank you, Paige
