Time Log / Time reporting

I am looking at getting customer / project cost reports. Currently via the time log I can see how many hours people have worked over a given period. What I would like to achieve is a breakdown of how many hours have been logged to which customer each week.

Currently the timelog tab will not allow adding of additional fields for a custom Customer field, and reporting shows total time spent on each item over it's lifetime not for the filtered period.

Does anyone do this already or know how to achieve this?

A simple this customer has had X amount effort this week.

Thanks

Hi Chris, thank you for posting this! An option which could help get a Time Log per customer is using Folder Tags for categorizing clients. I understand that this isn't the ideal solution since it requires some restructuring, but I wanted to share it in case it helps you or other users. Here's how to do it:

  1. Create a "Customers" Folder.
  2. Add Subfolders for each Customer you work with.
  3. Open a task and add a corresponding customer Folder Tag.
  4. You can add tasks to these Folders in bulk with the help of Mass Editing. To do this, open List View, filter by the Custom Field, select all tasks, and include them in the new Customer Folder. Here's a quick gif showing how to do this.
  5. Open the Time Log from a Customer Folder to view a breakdown of the hours logged for a particular client.

The idea of adding more filtering options is great and would definitely make this process easier. It would be great to see it in our new Product Feedback section!

Hey Anastasia

I am looking for the same solution you suggested and i created folders that are used as tags and add them to relevant tasks.

These tags are added to one or more folders/projects that are already assigned to these tasks.

When viewing the Time Log report, from the Customer folder, grouped by Parent Folder, the report shows all folders that are assigned to the tasks and not just the Customers folders as i would expect

Appreciate your help if i am missing something here..

@Tamir Hi, thanks for reaching out 🙂

I tested it, and the Timelog view only shows the parent folders (=tags) in the Parent Folder column - you can hide the column using the Gear icon in the upper left-hand corner of the view:

Please let me know if that's what you were looking for, we can discuss it further here 👍
