[Status: Launched ๐] Request Form Date settings - block out dates
AfixadoWe have designated timelines for each of our various project types/requests and as such in our old system project request forms we blocked the calendar accordingly so the first date someone is allowed to select for a due date is anywhere from 10 days to 4 weeks out (as seen in the attached photo example). All the dates in-between are blocked out and un-clickable. We are wondering if itโs possible to accommodate this feature. This helps prevent the expectation that if a staff member selects a sooner date that we will be able to get the project done quicker.
Hello everyone! We're excited to announce the launch of date constraints for date-type fields in request forms ๐ This new feature enables you to restrict certain dates from being selected, such as due dates that are too soon. You can findย more information about this update hereย โ
Thank you for your support for this feature! We look forward to hearing your feedback ๐

I second this request.ย
Yes, this option is so crucial. Please add this!
ย
Thanks again for the votes and input here guys! ๐
Rachel requested something similar, but I think having certain dates blocked outย is an interesting suggestion.
If you could also take a look at Rachel's post and if it's something you'd like to see in Wrike, please vote for it. Additionally, I have added a workaround that you might be able to use on her post using Project Templates for Request forms.
ย
Yes! I agree with Trish. This would be great to build into our request forms so that the first date available would equal xxx number of days out from the date of the request.
Whole heartedly agree! I came here intending to request the same thing.
We also used to use a form that allowed us to block-out days so people could not choose a day sooner than three weeks into the future. Since switching to the Wrike request form we have had problems with clients consistently selecting dates that are too soon. Despite our helper text right there saying "please allow a minimum of three weeks." They then expect these unreasonable turn-arond-times to be met.
Not to mention it is also causing many of those projects' tasks to appear overdue and the projects to be behind the second they're recorded into the system because we have Wrike reschedule from the blueprint, working back from the due date. This also then skews our analytics and how our performance looks as individuals and a team.
My only addition to this suggestion then is that it be an "individual instance" setting and not global, as we have different types of projects & contexts, each which has different lead time requirements.
Thank you for sharing your use-case here Katie Wilborn! This suggestion is on the team's radar for sure - they understand how this would improve the experience working with external forms. There's no ETA currently, but I'll keep you posted ๐

Lisaย and Trish Dotyย This is a really great idea.ย I want to add a date field to a request form but not allow people to select a date in the next 48 hours.ย If this is a great idea why is it that Lisa has posted her suggestion back in 2018 and it is still deemed as a good idea but nothing is being done about it.ย I have posted lots of things for Wrike to address but they end up in the same wish list buket ie copying question in request forms when building them.ย Would be really great to implement Tish's suggestion soon.
ย
I totally understand Julia Marber (Admin), thank you for reaching out here and voicing your feedback!ย
Some of the suggestions posted here in the forum get researched and implemented by the team (you can see the posts with the "Launched" status in the pinned section of theย Product Feedback forum), but you are correct in saying that unfortunately, they can't plan to work on all of the ideas here. Please rest assured that your feedback is passed on to the team even if the suggestion hasn't reached 60 upvotes yet, but it is when we add a Product Status to the suggestions.ย

With our company constantly changing and growing, this is becoming a HUGE need amongst our teams. Designers, project managers, and art directors everywhere would be so thankful! ๐

We would love to see the ability to black out the immediate 3 weeks following submission. Even though we have communicated our needed lead time for requests over and over again, we still have last minute requests coming in on a regular basis. Please consider moving this to the front burner as it would have a big impact for our team.ย
It would be amazing to block out the immediate 3 weeks following submission.ย We had this enabled in a Sharepoint form that we used previously, and it helped reinforce the message that lead-time is crucial for success and for creating a fair workload for all departments.ย Please consider moving this one to top priority!ย Thank you!
I came here looking specifically for this request! Same issue as most - we put in the description to allow a minimum lead time and so many people don't read it or simply ignore it. I spend too much time following up with requestors asking them for "more" time (literally just the minimum) and 9 times out of 10 they approve, they were just trying to sneak it in because they were given the option. Being able to block them from even choosing anything within the minimum lead time would be a GAME CHANGER. It could also be beneficial when we know there's a team retreat, multiple people on PTO, or designer overload (in our case, leading up to a huge product launch), where we could adjust accordingly to buy a little more time based on workloads and capacity. Please and thank you!!!
I put this request in so many years ago and all we get is... nothing but an update to the look of Wrike every year or two. We need real functionality that benefits the user, not a new look and feel. It's frustrating to know how many teams would benefit from this simple request yet it's been ignored for years.
Harter sums up our situation neatly - it's almost identical. This functionality would make a big difference to us.ย
Is this technically difficult to implement?ย
Everyone needs to get more people on their teams to upvote the original post! This way, it escalates it to the dev team because they may realize how needed this is!ย
Upvoted! Would appreciate a feature like this as well!
Hi everyone! Thank you very much for your interest and activity in this thread ๐คย

Thanks, Lisa; there are some pretty passionate supporters for this one!ย
Awesome, love to hear it. Thanks Lisa!
I'm bumping this thread so more people can share with their teams and get this upvoted! Resharing again with mine as well.ย What does backburner status mean? Is this even being considered?ย Lately, I've received a huge influx of requests that I've had to beg people to give my team at least two weeks' turnaround.ย No one pays attention, and I am still receiving next-day requests.ย I'm just getting to the point where I am going to hide all my request forms until we can catch up.ย
