[From Wrike] Transition to Custom Views ๐Ÿ“Œ

Afixado Em destaque

Hi Community ๐Ÿ‘‹

Today, weโ€™d like to share some exciting news in relation to Wrike Views.

You may remember that some time ago, we asked you how youโ€™re currently using Wrike Views and what enhancements youโ€™re looking forward to. Our teamโ€™s research wasnโ€™t limited to the Community, but weโ€™d like to thank everyone for participating in that discussion ๐Ÿ’š

Since then, our team has started introducing updates to Wrike Views, notably the ability to copy views from another location, which was a popular suggestion in the Community. Weโ€™ve also shared with you that more enhancements are on the way (you can read this post for more info). Weโ€™re looking forward to upcoming releases and weโ€™ll let you know as soon as the new functionality is available ๐Ÿ”ฅ

You may have noticed that the new features are introduced for Custom Views only, and thereโ€™s a reason for that. After our research, our team decided that it would be much more beneficial to continue building new functionality for Custom Views, as they allow more room for enhancement and customization.

Thatโ€™s why today, weโ€™d like to announce that we will be consolidating our view offerings to provide a more powerful user experience and eliminate redundancy. This means that Classic Views will be gradually phased out later this year. By the end of Q3 2024, Custom Views will become the default upon project & folder creation.

All existing Classic Views will automatically convert to Custom Views by the end of 2024, and we will simplify the terminology to just Views in the product.

Why Is This Change Beneficial?

Custom Views offer several advantages:

  • The ability to preserve your configurations under a custom name.
  • Unlimited views per folder/project.
  • The option to keep views private or public.

New Features:

  • Resource, Timelog, and Stream Views: These are now available as Custom Views, allowing multiple Resource views per project.
  • Enhanced Copy Functionality:

Copy views from another location - released โœ…

Copy views to specific locations from the viewed project or folder - coming soon ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Copy views to all direct children (top-level subprojects and subfolders) - coming soon ๐Ÿ”ฅ

In a Nutshell, What Exactly is Going to Change?

Unified Views:

We're merging 'Classic' and 'Custom' views into just 'Views'. New projects and folders will use custom views by default.

Project and Subproject Creation:

Projects will now start with a custom table view with standard columns or a view specified in the project/folder creation dialog. No more inheriting view settings from parent projects; but you can copy views if needed.

View Selector:

Simplified into a single list without 'classic' or 'custom' labels.

Copying Views:

You can now copy views between projects and folders.

Filters:

Filters will be consistent for all users visiting the view.

Availability of Views:

Timelog, Resource, and Stream views are available as custom views.

Templates and Existing Content:

New content and templates will use custom views. Existing classic views will be converted to custom views or remain unchanged.

How Will The Phasing Out Happen?

We will automatically convert all Classic Views to Custom Views by the end of 2024, ensuring no data is lost. However, if you prefer, you can start converting your Classic Views to Custom Views now by simply duplicating them (duplicates are custom by default).

ย

We are very excited to introduce an enhanced, intuitive, and customizable view system that will simplify your workspace and eliminate redundancy. By the end of 2024, Classic Views will be fully transitioned to Custom Views, making way for a more powerful Views feature with additional capabilities such as the ability to copy views between projects & folders.

Enjoy faster performance, easier scalability, and a consistent user experience throughout. This optimization is designed to boost your productivity and streamline project organization.

Will this affect the availability of "list view" at this time as well?

I am curious too,

Listview is still our most used view.

We would very much not like to see it go away...

Hey folks, thanks for your comments!

Although List view is planned for sunset in the coming months, this info above is not about it, but is on classic vs custom views.ย

I'll let our team know your feedback on List view ๐Ÿ‘ย

What the heck? The list view is no longer appearing, and the prompts about 'create a new view' are NOT helpful. Once again, Wrike is fixing things that aren't broken and adding confusion to an already challenging interface.ย

Our organization also uses list view extensively, taking this view away, will surely have us considering moving from Wright. In the recent past, there have been too many changes which have actually been counterproductive.

Please do not get rid of list view - it is our most used view & what our people use the most on a daily basis!ย

Throwing my hat in the ring for list view.ย  HUGE OCM if list view goes away.ย  I've fallen in love with table view, but I have to drag 600+ other users along and they are primarily using list view. Ouch.

I strongly agree that List view is still a huge beneficial factor for us.

Besides the tableview has huge perfomance issuesย  for us in most locations...

Hi everyone! We appreciate your continued feedback about List view vs Table view, even though this particular thread is about Custom views vs Classic ones.ย
Please rest assured our team is aware that there's a number of customers who still prefer the List view and they carefully gather all feedback to continue adding enhancements to the Table view. Thank you for letting us know what you think ๐Ÿ™Œ
