Leave requests

I haven't seen anything on this forum regarding maybe a different way to use Wrike.

We use Wrike request to keep track of staff leave requests. Staff requiring any sort of leave - annual - personal (sick) - compassionate or other type of leave - fills in a Wrike request.

The process is automated by sending the request to the department head, who approves the leave (or denies it)

Then the request is moved to HR who add the leave to the common leave calendar and the user's work schedule in Wrike.

That's a very interesting setup, thank you for sharing Debbie Brownlie 🤗

Howdy Debbie Brownlie,

Is the common leave calendar within Wrike and if so how is the leave added to it? I presume by tagging the task into a folder than the calendar view is focused on?

Just thought it'd be good to get a more full picture for those who want to implement this themselves.

We do not use it for leave requests  - but we do have team members change their name in Wrike to have "OOO" at the end so people know they will be out.

Debbie Brownlie Piggybacking off of George Fiveash 's idea, you could create a folder where all absence form requests go to, then build an absence Calendar with layer(s) that pull from that folder.

Brittney Bemb , that's our go-to notification system as well 😎

We do not use Wrike for our leave requests since they are directly tied in with our payroll system. We do however use it for a calendar that all staff has visibility to. We have one employee that manages it and updates it weekly.  We also have employees change their name in Wrike to remind those that are @ messaging them that they are out. For example, my name would be Caitlin Beaty Out 2/28-3/8.

Thank you for sharing, I never thought of altering the name but that would be useful when people are in a big organization and working remotely

George Fiveash I like the way you're thinking.... actually we add the leave to a shared Outlook calendar... in Wrike we only mark them absent on their Work Schedule.

I must admit the OOO is not something we use in Australia lol and I have to stop and think when I see it.

Our emergency services number is 000 (equivalent to your 911) so OOO (even though it is alpha) makes me stop and have to change brain paths!

We are in the same boat as Caitlin where our requests are in our payroll system but we do still put it in an outlook calendar for everyone to see. It may be good to use the calendar in Wrike with a form instead.

there is a similar comment here: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360051326914/comments/1500000695462

In my opinion this system lacks in integration with the wrike work schedule. Wrike should implement a link to its internal off-time calender, that would be a great advance!

I've tried this and it did not work out for us (yet) I need a way to ensure that it gets reflected in our Outlook mail calendars. The team is simply not checking Wrike for this kind of status update on particular team members schedules.
