Same here.ย Example:

  • When Ticket is put in a status "Done"
  • add [Ticket::Custom Field] value to [Project::Custom Value]

In numbers:

  • before this action;, Project::Revenue = โ‚ฌ2.000, and Ticket::Value = 450
  • after the action, Project::Revenue = 2.000 + 450 = 2.450

Hey folks! I've checked with our Product team - they are currently researching the ability to set specific custom field values through automation ๐Ÿ‘ I've updated the status here.ย

It would be great if we could set a "Last updated" custom field with this. That would mean that this specific custom field gets the day of "Today" after a trigger (e.g. "Status update" or update of another custom field").

Would like to check if there is an expectation on when this feature may be ready to use/deployed? It would be tremendously helpful for my team :)ย

@... Given the added capabilities to automate Custom Field changes - we are using up our limits much faster. So functionality has been added, but previous limits on automations have not been raised. We cannot afford to upgrade all our users to the higher level plans after Business so remain limited in how we use Wrike.

Hi MW -, thank you for your comment. I understand you have reviewed our information about automation rules limits per account. May I ask you to create a separate Product Feedback post to suggest this change?

Thank you!

@... Good afternoon,

I have been searching through posts to see if anyone has posted about a feature request that I am interested in. I found this request, which is close, but not quite what I need. I would like to be able to trigger an automation based on a custom field that has a formula. In addition, I would like automations to be able to use custom fields to change other custom fields. Essentially, using a custom field as a variable. As far as I know, there is no way to do this.ย

For example, I manage a space that consists of purchase requests. There is a requirement that we must review the quality of all purchases. When I see that we received the items, it would be great if I could check a checkbox and Wrike will then start a quality review process. Wrike will immediately send a message to the assigned quality reviewer and then set a custom field's date to today plus seven days. Seven days being a custom field that is hidden on a custom item type (a variable). This will then create a reminder date seven days from today and will send another email to the assigned reviewer when the seven days passes. The process will repeat until the reviewer submits the review. This would be created with just a few rules.

Currently, I have made a work around using the "Days passed without changing status". Basically, I created a rule for 7,14,21,28, and etc., days. This obviously takes up a lot of rules, they are all redundant, and could be replaced by one rule using this new feature.

Another example is that I have a Purchase By custom field that uses a formula to set a date to have the product purchased by. Currently, there are five starting rules. One rule for each priority level that a requester can select: one through five. Those rules based on the priority level, changes a hidden custom field that is an integer to represent how many days that we have to purchase the product by. The Purchase By custom field's formula takes that integer custom field and adds that number to the start date of the request. This creates a Purchase By date based on the start date. Where this new feature comes in, is I could create an automation that will see if that Purchase By date has passed and then sends an email to the requestor letting them know that the product has not been purchased yet.

I can keep going and write a book about all the implementations I can create using these two features or even just the one using a custom field formula as a trigger. I know this is a wall of text, but I wanted to show the benefits of this and see if you know of any posts requesting this for automations. If there isn't I will make one if needed.

Thank you,
Jesse Phillips

Lisa Thank you! Should I create a post solely for this? Is there a better space that I need to post this in? Also, has custom field formulas already been looked at regarding automation triggers?

Danielle Brancard Lisa Hello again, I have created a post.

I made the wall of text a little more organized, so hopefully it is more easily read.ย

Thanks!

It would be very useful to have the ability to perform Math formulas in the "change custom field" automation action. This is such as increment, decrement, multiply ,....etc on the original field value. For instance:

When any subtask status is changed to completed, increment the field value by x.

It would be even vastly useful to be able to reference other fields in the formula.ย

this is a feature we would have many uses for. ย The Custom fields have very limited value at present as there are only few calculations that are possible. ย  Could we get at least some of the functionality that most spreadsheets & apps like AirTable & Smartsheets perform so well. ย

Lisa Elaborating MW -'s point with examples in the attachment 1 "Date Field as Action" and 2 "Number Field as Prompt Action".
In the attachment 1, one should be able to auto input e.g. Today's date in the date custom field.ย  Date field should be one of the action.
In the attachment 2, one should be able to change number field to some value
