Link a space into another Space

Hi,

I would like to link a complete space in another space.

We have one space for projects which are in preparation and one space for projects which are running. Now I need reports about both spaces. So I would like to make a link in the space for preparation to the running projects space, so that all reports going on the preparation also include the running space.

I know I can link all the top level folders and projects to both spaces. The disadvantage is that if I create a new top level folder in the running projects space I have to remember that I have to link it. I forgot it last time and it made some trouble. So I am searching a way I can link the running projects space so that also new generated folders and projects are linked to the preparation space.

Does anybody know a way? I could not choose the space for linking.

Hi Sven Passinger, thank you for posting. At the moment linking Spaces is not an option, but I'm happy to pass on your feedback.

May I also ask for some further clarification? It's currently possible to choose two Spaces as a data source on Reports but you'd not like to choose this due to room for error for forgetting to add one Space? Thank you!

Hi @..., yes to forget a space is one thing. The other thing is that we have a tool for extracting data which is applied to one space and via link we can also make the second space.

For users it is always simple: I need information about all projects (in preparation is one space, in work is another psace) I choose space 1. I need information only about running projects I choose space 2.

Sven Passinger To be able to have visibility over all active works, I've created a Global space with Active work referencing other spaces. You could use the same principle to get all the projects under one folder. You need to add sub-spaces folders to Global folders with the permalink.

The structure looks like this:

Global space
Active works [Global]
> Active works [Project]
> Active works [Digital]
> ...

Project space
Active works [Project]

Digital space
Active works [Project]

I hope this help

Hi Roxane Carrier this is quiet similar to what we have now (the difference is that you have a third space you use as complete one). You have the same drawback: you have to manually link the project to both spaces. If you forget it you have a problem.

Sven Passinger since I'm referencing the folders from 'sub-spaces' in the Global space, I get all the projects listed in the Global space folder. I don't have to add them manually for them to show.

Roxane Carrier but then you introduce an extra layer with the folders (which I do not see any use for us).

Sven Passinger it's managed in a different space (Global space), so it doesn't add a folder layout in the other spaces (aka Future & Active projects in your case). The approach works for us, but might not for you. All that being said, I agree that we should be able to multi-select folders that we want to generate reports.
