No reason justifying this change was ever communicated to any of us which is unfortunate.

If they completely ignore this, the next step is really social media reviews. youtube videos. Not to trash the company or the product, I actually love Wrike, but to let future users know how they will be treated when this kind of thing happens.

That they may build their entire company and user workflows around what appears to be standardised functionality - only to have Wrike unilaterally remove said functionality and greatly impact the day to day of the business. . .It's basically the antithesis of what any volume enterprise client, well any client for that matter, would want.

What we're dealing with is not a failure of the Wrike Platform - but a failure of the dev team to properly look after the interests of it's users. Making uninformed, unilateral decisions without a proper user consultation process.

This whole situation is a testament to that.

I'm really fairly shocked that the Wrike team has been silent for nearly two weeks on this topic. What a mistake.

I can only conclude that they are sticking with this change at this point. So I'm off to search for the next tool....

Jim Tobin Asana is probably your best bet. :) It's the closest to Wrike. Insightly was also good to me many years ago, but not sure how it's come along since then.

Hi, I am Yury, a Product Manager at Wrike.

I would like to thank all the participants of this thread for your feedback. Please know that we consider all your feedback very carefully as we aim to build a much more wholesome work management experience for you all. Your feedback is an important source of input for us as we build our short and long-term product plans.

So let me provide more clarity on what we're going to do and why.

    Reasons for sunset
Currently, the MyWork tool has an obsolete interface and is built on a legacy codebase which is almost impossible to maintain, fix bugs, and improve upon.

Based on the input from analytics, support tickets, customer interviews and feedback from the private beta program, we were able to define the majority of the scenarios that MyWork is used for. Based on this information, the majority of use cases are now covered by the ‘My to-do’ and ‘Created by me’ Smart Folders available in the Personal space.

Below I'll shed some light on the features that seem lost and what we are going to do with the rest, most requested here.

    Time groupings
You can find time groupings by changing the sorting in the toolbar. The default sorting is by ‘date modified’ which can be very convenient if you have not many tasks in ‘My to-do’.

    Manual tasks reordering
Manual drag-and-drop to reorder tasks is available if the list is sorted by ‘Priority’.
However, it's not possible to reorder tasks inside each time section or move between sections if the list is sorted by Date.

The reason is that we don't want to mix automated and manual date sorting – this mix resulted in a lot of issues for users.

We consider different approaches on how we can provide an experience where you'll be able to focus on tasks due today and reorder them to prioritize.

    Folder tags
Some of you mentioned that we’d moved away folder/project tags.
You can enable them from the dot menu by clicking ‘Show folder names’. It's also important to mention that we'll move all List view settings to the toolbar soon.

    Navigation
Navigating to MyWork is obviously easier than to ‘My to-do’ which is part of Personal space.
Along with the MyWork sunset, we'll add a link to ‘My to-do’ in the top navigation, so it can be as easily accessible as MyWork.

    Future plans
We'll disable MyWork for the majority of customers on October 31, 2019, as the notification message states for both Desktop and Mobile applications.
However, we'll keep the current MyWork functionality for accounts where it’s critical. If this is the case for you, please ask your account owner to reach out to our support. Each case will be reviewed individually. After that, I'll ask for an interview with the account owners to find out more details on your scenarios and understand how we can help.

The good news is that we're already looking for potential short-term improvements for ‘My to-do’ taking into account all the input found here and in other channels. Additionally, we are researching long-term plans on how we can drastically improve your personal work experience in Wrike, so a lot of great things to come.

We appreciate your feedback, and despite the fact that there are some challenges, we aim to provide the best user experience.

Thank you very much for your patience and your valuable contributions that help us improve the product.

    Yury,

It really seems as if the only concern you're actually addressing is a link at the top of the page?

Multiple people have already explained why the functionality that only works when tasks are sorted one way isn't good enough, so explaining it again isn't going to address anyone's concerns.

Overall, a very weak explanation that screams "we're going ahead with the changes and not really listening".

I suggest the team reconsiders and doesn't sunset My Work until My to-do is actually feature complete and not a half-capable mess.

It's good to finally see an explanation. And an outdated code base that breaks a lot makes sense to me. But what I don't understand is why you can't delay the sunsetting until you make the replacement actually work for people.

The message I've taken from this is find a new platform. Appreciate the clear message.

Really? From all our messages the only thing you'll fix is the link on the top? Still, you don't understand why having to sort by priority to be able to sort however we need is not sufficient?

Time to move to Asana :( The time-consuming migration ahead of me will remind me not to trust you in the future.

I understand about the code maintenance making it impossible to continue with My Work. To really make My To Do work for your users though, can you look into the Priority sorting under My To Do some more? I think that there is DEFINITELY a need to improve that sort filter. It's unusable as it is.

The reason that Today/This Week/Next Week/Later was so liked was because it allowed us to focus on the immediate tasks without losing sight of the future ones. It gave headings to sort under, and white space to focus the eye on the immediate to do list. You could also hide tasks under each heading to further focus.

Since there have apparently been issues with mixing the automated and date sorting, could a SIMILAR TYPE of element be added to the Priority sorting that would not have that issue? The current priority list view has EVERYTHING on it, with no white space, and makes it really difficult to focus in on what needs to be done in the present. Perhaps you could make the headings "IMMEDIATE / NEXT IN LINE / LATER / SOMEDAY." Those would be "priority" headings and not even implying that they are tied to a date — an entirely separate categorization.

Adding this element along with the ability to show/hide the tasks under those headings would improve that sort filter quite a bit.

Otherwise, the Priority tab is simply not useful at all, and my best bet is to use the by date sorting and continually modify the dates: quite tedious and extra work (and impossible for those who are dependent on others setting the deadlines for items).

By the way, I've noticed in My To Do, when you open a task to look at the details of it, there is no longer a one-step click to close that window. Can you bring back the "x" in the top right corner instead of us having to click the menu icon, then "close panel"?

    Thank you!

Eva Koeller is nailing the issues and offering great possible solutions! Also it's WAY too easy to accidentally subtask something when trying to move it in priority view.

This is really unhelpful. My work was awesome because I can actually move and adjust to see things I am ACTUALLY working on "Today" for example. My To-Do feature doesn't allow that. I have items due next month showing up in Today or This Week. This view is very overwhelming and not accurate. There needs to be more customization here, or keep My Work.

It would be a shame for our productivity to take a hit because of poor task organization that is out of our control.

I have been thoroughly testing Wrike since today, and here is my opinion, based on my experiences with other task managers.

1st thing: Sorting: There is confusion between "sorting" and "grouping": The existing setting "Sort by" is actually "Group by", it is not a real sorting. It must be possible to define both options.
Currently if we group by importance or status, the tasks currently appear sorted alphabetically, which makes absolutely no sense!!!! It should be possible to group by importance (or status), and then sort by due date. If this is not possible, the default sorting in the grouping must be more relevant than alphabetically!

2nd thing: for a long-term task management, a filter on dates is missing, in order to avoid cluttering the list with things that cannot be done soon: filter tasks with a long deadline, and also consider the start date.
For example: "to be done in 14 days" shows:
    1. - late tasks
    2. - tasks whose due date is within 14 days, or whose start date is set within 14 days
    3. - and possibly undated tasks

Currently we can do this is the dashboards, but it's quite complicated, and the smart folder "My tasks" view would be much more convenient.
In the current state, for my use, the new smart folder are not very useful.

Apologies if this issue has been discussed already, but will the new "My To Do" be able to be made sticky to the top of the page? having an "always" available top of the page link, is beneficial for me, after running searches, or "accidentally clicking on the text of an item" when I really wanted to click on the "bar" of the item to focus on the specific task at hand. Having to scroll back up, instead of triggering a "tab" switch, is much more annoying and time-consuming (especially with the narrow width of the scroll-bar)...

Dear My Work users, it appears that writing on this forum has been an ineffective strategy for us to communicate how CRITICAL this feature is to us. We need to try a different approach. The developers, marketers, and leadership at Wrike need to understand why and how much we love using Wrike (and don't want to switch platforms!) and how My Work is CENTRAL to why we love this platform.

Call the US support line number at +1 877 779 7453 or find your country's number at https://www.wrike.com/contactus/

When I called Wrike's US support line, I reached a representative named Julia who really listened to my explanation of how My Work adds value to all of us who have come to rely on Wrike. She carefully wrote down the concerns I raised and what the consequence will be if they do eliminate My Work, which is grave—I would stop setting it up for all of my new business consulting clients and stop recommending it to any entrepreneurs or executives. I told Julia that I've used Basecamp, Teamwork, Checkvist, and extensively used JIRA—and what makes Wrike better than any of them is My Work.

Julia did not seem to have a lot of experience responding to this complaint about their plan to remove My Work, which gives me the impression that the company is not talking about it. I think calling their support team may be a more effective way of getting through to the Wrike company.

Please call the Wrike customer support line. The US number is +1 877 779 7453. Explain to them how you use My Work and what the consequences will be if they follow through with their plan to remove it.

We all don't want to move to another platform because we love Wrike—let's make sure the company understands that My Work is one of the central reasons WHY we love it. Let's make it clear that we want them to modernize the code base, including (and especially) for My Work, but that we will be grievously impacted if they follow through with their current plan to remove the core feature that makes Wrike more user-friendly than all of its competitors.

I don't think it's a good replacement. My team uses My work a lot, because of the features. You can order your work in the time you want to make it, Today, this week, next week. This is the best feature in wrike and you are removing it!!

You csn also see highlighted in light blue the new tasks to diference them from the old ones.

You can easily drag and drop tasks to order them any way you want, this is the most important feature in My Work... but now they are removing this.

We will be forced to use a static list, sorted by dates... not a good change it seems!!

I hope you guys reconsider this change!!

What about project labels on tasks? I think the My To-Do is overwhelming to look at when you can't see what client/project each task is for.

As Amanda Smith said: "My to do feels overwhelming because I have to look at everything at once no matter how they are sorted. I prefer the my work view where I can compartmentalize based on dates. Very disappointed this will be going away. Especially since one of the biggest complaints from my team is that they feel like wrike can be overwhelming! "

I agree totally. Very disapointed with the change...

Luis Perez Amanda Smith I couldn't agree more - the ability to pin and unpin things from a todo list and organize with headings makes people feel like they have somewhere to focus, rather than looking at endless lists of tasks. it's the way my team facilitates Agile sprints with the system, which will be much more difficult with the new screen.

Of course you are not the only ones. . .this is the longest thread of bascially just pure complaints - in fact it is the longest thread on this discussion board. . .ever! Going back three years you won't find a more hotly discussed topic.

They have massively screwed the pooch on this one and dropped a new feature that is nowhere near ready for distribution. I think it's time Wrike admitted the completely fubar situation and kept my work around until they can adequately replicate it's functionality in My To Do under the new code base before sunsetting the legacy My Work. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. . .how is it that they haven't just agreed to do this already!?

This was the last email sent to my account co-ordinator. . .perhaps a mass exodus is what they are after. : )

    John,

I have already thoroughly explored Dashboards and found it to be unable to replicate anything remotely close to my work.

I really need this feature to stick around mate. Please advise Yury that I would like to retain this feature, unless you can help me construct a better version of it with some blackmagic in Wrike that only you understand?

If you can't do it, let's investigate a pro-rata refund for my remaining subscription as I will no longer require such an expensive solution and may move to another platform.

No offense and no hardball intended. But if you rip the rug out from under people and don't give them options as alternatives, of course they are going to start looking around.

    Warmest,

    Christian

Thank you for the email. I can appreciate where you are coming from. Product changes can cause disruptions to current work and is never ideal.

That being said, I can assure you that our product team has done sufficient polling throughout our customers across the globe before arriving at a decision. More over, though my work is being sun set, the capability still remains with "My to-do" and in Dashboards.

I would recommend creating a personal dashboard for all your tasks (past present and future), as that will actually function much better than "My work"!

wow, what an infuriating answer. The way you feel is invalid because we asked other people and they said they liked it better. You should be able to do everything in dashboard even though you explicitly stated that you can't. Nothing is wrong and if you say otherwise you are wrong. have a great day. -wrike

I cannot understand why they are being so stubborn on this. Just delay the sunsetting until, let's say, December 31 and build in the obvious features that are missing from this so far terrible replacement.

I spent time this weekend evaluating alternatives to Wrike. This after being an advocate for it the last 5 years. Sad how poorly they are handling this...

    Yes. It was. . . : (

I've said it before. This is not a software issue. It's actually a customer service issue and what this is doing is really highlighting a massive cultural problem within the Wrike Dev, Support and Management team.

Hopefully someone in there wakes up and makes some changes to the way they are operating. . .as this won't be the last time they muck up and every time it will cost them users. : (

If any are interested, I am more than happy to try and negotiate a volume discount for anybody wishing to migrate to Asana. I'm sure they would love to see this thread.

Jim Tobin same here, and I found out that Asana simply allows you to add rows to your todo list called Sections that you can define and rearrange however you want! so there are definitely things Wrike could do to make this more functional, even if they're trying to move away from the "custom code" of My Tasks: https://asana.com/guide/help/projects/sections
