work with adobe indesign althought its not locked?
Hello!
We recently found out that adobe indesign documents are not locked anymore in wrike when open with document editor. So everyone can open and edit it at the same time.
Can anyone help us and give a tip how to cope with that? How du you make sure nobody else is editing a document while its used by another person?
we are not working with creative cloud (would there be such a function?) - and we work with an older version of indesing (CC 5.5)
Many thanks!
Helga
Great question. I ran a test using InDesign CC 2019, the file is not locked while i have it open! I also tested in Illustrator, and the file is not locked when i have that open from Wrike either.
Attention Devs: Is this a bug in Wrike or are they not supposed to lock? What a mess this could be for the users!
@Helga @Marj, thanks for bringing attention to it. Currently only attachments in a compatible application can be locked. The applications are :
Windows:
Mac OS X:
If you open an attachment with non-compatible applications the lock feature will not work: multiple users will be able to open and edit file attachments. Each edited version of the attachment is uploaded to Wrike as a new version and will not include changes made by other users.
Please get back to me if you have any further questions.

@Helga, you're right, these applications are supported by the Document Editor, that means they can be opened and edited. Only applications that I listed above can be locked. More info on this is on our Help Center. That is a technical limitation of some applications.
I'll be happy to help with any questions, just drop me a line here.

Unfortunately pdfs are not compatible either. When viewing a pdf people are unable to see the comments correctly, sometimes not at all. For a brief period of time the pdfs would lock when editing. I wrote user instructions based on testing I performed. Then this feature was recently removed. Big disappointment since all the files I have for reviewing must use pdfs and cannot use the Wrike commenting application.
