You can create a dashboard widget to view work assigned to other assignees.

choose what folder you want the data to populate from and how you want to filter the data (ex. specific assignees or a group of assignees that you want to be able to monitor)
You can also follow the tasks that you assign and receive notifications when changes are made, but I like using the dashboard widget.
Reporting gets you the same information, filtered folders in a bar graph or excel style spreadsheet... but with a widget you can quickly see an overview of progress.
