We have a major need to map different workflows into a single workflow on a Board view for a company-wide project. I reviewed the three similar product request links above but none of them are specific like Coline's request.
Use case: We are planning a major project that impacts everyone in the company. I set up a dedicated Space for this effort. We are going to start running weekly sprints and need to easily visualize the sprint work. A Kanban board has been requested since the Agile teams prefer this view.
The problem: IT and Marketing use different workflows. I cannot map these into a single workflow on a Board like in Jira. I don't want to force the teams to use a single workflow because we have automations and dashboards set up based on statuses and some are even linked to intake forms.
MVP solution: A simple "To Do", "Doing", "Done" workflow would work. Then I could map the mis-matched statuses like "In Review" for Marketing and "QA" for IT to "Doing". Those columns should be visual only and not change the current workflow statuses for either team (I don't want a "Ready to Deploy" status to change to "Done" because it would no longer show up on a dashboard and fall through the cracks.)
Current workaround: I created a custom field so we can tag tasks to a sprint. Then I added a widget to our project dashboard that is filtered by that custom field. Two issues with this method:
1) I have to manually update the dashboard widgets based on the sprint custom field.
2) It's still not a Board view and is visually cluttered.
Coline Gheysen, I'm tagging you just in case my workaround is helpful for your situation!
Otherwise, as always, thank you Wrike team for your time and consideration. :)
Hi Daisy Hibbard 👋
Thank you for supporting Coline’s suggestion and for sharing your use case and workaround in detail! I understand that dashboard widgets might not be a perfect solution as they don't provide the drag-and-drop functionality of a Board view.
