Add to a custom field drop down in a form

I have a form for users to enter some data.  One of the forms is for a "Customer" dropdown.  If the Customer isn't already in the list, I want the user to be able to type it in and add it IN THE FORM.  I don't want them to have to go to the custom field or table view or anything.  I thought they would just be able to type it in, but they can't.  I have "Allow users to input other data" checked.

Thanks for posting, I do understand your use case here. Currently, it's not possible to use a dropdown question and add an option at the same time. The workaround to that could be to add "Other" as one of the options in the dropdown menu, then to add a following short-answer question "If other please state". Do you think this would help your team?

What about the "Allow users to input other values" option for the Single Select field? Shouldn't that allow users to manually input a choice? I've tried it, but don't see how it works. Thoughts?

Hello! 

I am also looking for the "Allow users to input other values" option for the single select field information as well as I also have a need to streamline a form that needs this ability instead of having to manually maintain a multi-select custom field.
