email to task comments

Hi-

I LOVE the feature to mention team members in the comments using @ and having their email replies automatically show up in the comment feed.  In order for this to work I noticed that an external user needs to register on wrike.  We work with 100s of outside vendors and it isn’t practical to have every one do this (i.e. register).  Is there a way to disable the registration requirement so that email replies from anyone automatically go into the comment feed?

Thanks.

Dan

Hi Dan, glad to hear you're happy you like the email integrations 🙂

I can definitely see how having clients, outside your Wrike account, involved in tasks via email integration could be very useful - it's an interesting idea.

I understand you have a high volume of Collaborators but for others who may not be aware I just want to mention that registration only needs to be completed once and then they have access to get involved in tasks that are shared with them.

Thanks for sharing so other members can discuss and our Product Team can be made aware of this request!

I also would like this option.  I deal with lots of outside people and I can't ask them to register with Wrike.  I just want their replies to show in the comments.  I'm not expecting them to use Wrike at all.  I just need one place for all the communication to get captured.  I almost got around this limitation by using Outlook rules to forward their reply to Wrike.  But it only shows the forward and not the email that I want to see.  I have to click on it to open up the entire email body and that defeats the purpose.

Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, but if you click the link icon at the top of a task, you can copy the email address and CC it in your email communications. Doing so will log the email as a comment on the task. See the screenshot below.

However, the one hiccup that I've found, and the reason I'm looking into this topic, is that it appears when a non-Wrike user replies to the email in which this Wrike address is CC'd, they receive an email notification asking them to create an account. And, it seems to be hit or miss on whether or not their reply gets logged on the task.

Anyone else use this feature? Maybe I'm not using it the right way?

Hi Felix Buehler, welcome to the Community and thank you for adding your support here. We recently did introduce Email Communication With Non-Wrike Users in the direction of this suggestion.

Hi @...! Thank you and yes, the new feature is very good, we already use it. The feature does require a request form though if I'm not mistaken. To be able to quickly send tasks or comments to a folder/task, the feature mentioned here would be very nice!

Where did this feature go? I cannot find it in the new Lightspeed setup.

Hello Chelsea Janke, welcome to the Community! The Communication With Non-Wrike Users feature has not been changed, you should be able to make use of it in your account. Would you please elaborate on your case so we can assist you with this? Thank you!

Juan i believe what Chelsea Janke is saying is that in Lightspeed there is only the option to copy a permalink but not the task email.  I did a feedback about it but had to switch back to the old view to copy the task email.

Hello Yvette Kama, thank you for your comment. If that was the case, I'm glad to announce that this option has been launched, you can now update items in Wrike using email in the Item view. You can see the announcement about this option here 🙂

I hope that helps! Please, let us know if you have any other questions 👍
