Report Updates

We do weekly release notes, but this release got us especially excited and we wanted to call it out! So what’s it about?
Reports got a visual facelift, they look cleaner and we’ve made a few changes to make them easier to read. For example,
- Font size is larger
- For the status column, instead of color coding the entire cell, we’re just color coding the status name
And of course there are a few functionality changes
- Aggregation - if you’ve added an aggregation option to a Custom Field on the Table View, then we perform the same aggregations on any Report with that same Custom Field.
- Auto-saving - when you change a column's width or position we’ll automatically save the changes, so your Report looks the same the next time you open it.
- Improved sorting - we’ve made sorting of groupings and sorting within groupings more intuitive to make it easier to find and see what you need.
- Wrap text - Text wrap functionality was expanded, and now text-wrapping (once enabled) works for all fields except number and date-type Custom Fields.
Actually, you guys made MORE than just these aesthetic and functionality changes. Another function was dropped or changed - the list links have been adjusted to only bring a pop-up window to view instead of a new window page with the full task list content of a project card (for project reports).
This new change has made the reports page less appealing as a quick tool to scan and visit project cards.
Drop the pop-ups and bring back the full accessibility of the project card to a new window with all tasks listed!

Hi Susan! Thanks for pointing this out (I like looking at my tasks in the List View as well). If you right-click on a Task or Project on a Report, and then select "Open in new tab", the task or Project will open in a new tab in the full panel view. Let me know if that helps!

Susan, I'm REALLY glad there was another option for you to get to the 'new window'. To be honest...out team was really excited to see the 'pop up window' treatment (which matches the UI from within Table View). Our team often reviews Reports as a team and when we find something that needs updating quickly, the pop-up window let's us make that change and return to the Report quickly.

I am happy for you. I'm glad it worked for your team. Unfortunately for other teams, the upgrade took away an easy, convenient, time-saving access to the whole project card where you can see the list of tasks on the right side of the active task page. The task page is just one small component of a bigger picture.
But with Stephanie's suggestion, we'll make do with the 'upgrade'.

Suggestion for updates to Reports
- Ability to send a link to the live report rather than a snapshot
- Ability to organize/sort reports rather than just a list of report names
Hi David! We always welcome suggestions. I want to make sure what you have in mind gets heard by the product team though. For the option to send a link to the live Report, could you leave a post in the Product Feedback section? We have a system of reporting and tracking set up for that section that gets shared with the Product Team. For the option to organize Reports, if you could add a ➕to Jim's request that would be really helpful.
